I am always open to best offers, no matter what the deal. I take everything into account and go from there. I will even take offers on the higher end stuff because you never know. Regardless, I got an offer for 70 bucks for my copy of the Haunting. Now, I might just be a small town guy from a place in Michigan but I am not a fool. The copy I have is mint, it is in perfect condition. The guy asked me to describe it as best I could, send pictures, and all that which I did. Still doesnt want to pay more then 70 dollars for it. My response, "I think I will keep it in my collection a little longer, as you see, the problem with dealers/collectors, we dont really care when the big stuff sells. It is the possession of something other people dont have and want that makes me keep it. Or put another way, when was the last time one of these puppies, in this shape was up for sale on Ebay." Personally, I havent seen one for over a year. I dont look all the time but I do from time to time because it was one of those I wanted. Just wanted to vent. I have been moving for several days and getting emails like that give me a few moments of laughter. I gave him my best offer and he hasnt responded yet. Wonder why.

Is this the HAUNTING 1998? I have a couple one from the US(purchased when new) approx £35, and I think the other was purchased new from Japan approx $70+ I would'nt part with these. The going price of this title now, in next to, or new unopened I would have thought would be around £100+ It's tough out in the world right now economy wise, as many people are struggling. It has taken myself over 4 years to pay for my reserved batch of laserdisc's, the seller fully understands what I have been going through Job wise, the good thing though is that i have paid some funds toward this order. . . . . . All be it a long time ago I hope your move goes well mikeystoyz. Keep us informed of your progress and how you settle in. Regards to all

Thats a pathetic offer for a sealed mint copy of an ultra rare LD, used ones sell for at least $100 when they come up once every blue moon

I have never really dealt with anything really rare. However, an eBay seller listed a few rare Discovision discs a few weeks ago. One of them (Tom Sawyer) was $105. It was in excellent condition. The seller tryed for weeks to sell it for that price. Not even a bite. So then the seller decided to lower the price down. He then listed it again for $4.99. I then won the auction for $8. Just goes to show although a disc is rare and a collector knows this and trys to list it for a relative price, the disc won't go because most LaserDisc buyers (I mean not serious collectors) go for the movie rather than the rarity when buying discs. If the seller is reading this, I thank you so much for being so gracious with the item.

From my own interest in collecting music laserdiscs I'd certainly agree with that comment. The fact is there are so few copies of certain titles in circulation that it if often nothing short of a miracle to get hold of ANY copy at ANY price never mind find a pristine copy that plays perfectly. This is one of the reasons why if a rare disc arrives damaged it can be utterly soul destroying as you cannot put a price on an item like that. No amount of compensation would cover the loss of such an item. Some of my most precious laserdiscs were acquired from the most unlikely sources. For example I often had to negotiate with someone who might not have spoken a word of English. They may also not have been able/willing to accept payment via paypal or insisted on a very expensive shipping service. There was therefore considerable risk associated with such transactions not to mention complications with communication. To then make such a treasure available to buy with a click of a mouse removes all these hassles for another collector so buyers should always bear that in mind before making an offer. Remember that the price reflects a number of factors besides just rarity. If you think you can find a cheaper copy yourself then go for it but don't complain if the title you have been watching for months suddenly gets snapped up by someone else and you never see it again. I know I have regretted buying some laserdiscs in the past, however expensive they seemed at the time.
