Wow. I love space discs, but that is a little rich for my blood! I think the seller is a little confused, though.

Yeah that statement caught my eye as well. It looks like he got most of his info off Blaine's Discovision site where he often states if a disc was or wasn't released on laserdisc after Discovision. The same seller had/has quite a few other very early Discovision releases as well. Another rare disc when for the exact same price.

Same with me. Way out of my price range. The most I payed for a Discovision disc is $15 for a pristine copy of Ma and Pa Kettle.
Also it is not available to me in Australia. That is the reason my collection is so stunted. Not many Discovision discs offering overseas postage. :(
Blane must have bid on that. I don't if even has that LaserDisc.
Apparently that guy also sold Le Corbusier and Archiology / the big dig as well!

While this disc was always shown to have been released in both MCA's catalogs & stock reports, only about 34 copies were shipped to Atlanta for the launch, then it disappeared, not to be seen again. Most collectors did not believe the disc was actually pressed until this auction showed up. The disc is so rare it is worth what the seller got for it. My partner was the DiscoVision reviewer for DiscDeals magazine where Blaine got the majority of his info for his DiscoVision website. All the non-feature films were pressed at the Torrance labs and don't suffer the defects of the Carson pressings.

Unlike "The Amish" and "The Bolero" none of these other titles, except for Julia Child, Jaques Cousteau and some of the Jane Goodall titles, have been released on DVD, making them "lost" programs and worth major $$$.

It's someone called "dv1978". I think that means DiscoVision1978. This person also bought something from Blaine back in 2002.
I'd say another avid collector. I'd like to see his collection. :o

I live in hope someone will eventually upload these programs on to Youtube or DVD so that the price may go down.

The price is astronomical! :D

Yeah looks like someone got too much money to blow. That is way overpriced and it only runs for 18mins?

It's not overpriced if there were multiple bidders on it and someone paid for it. It's a very rare title and to a Discovision collector, well worth the money.

Hi everyone.

I actually bought it. Did I pay too much for this and "Archeological Dating", probably. Would I do it again in the same circumstances - definately. Disclord is right - DiscDeal is where the start of my web site came from. Disclord has (or had at one time) a pretty decent collection of DiscoVision discs. I believe I am missing only 2 or 3 non-feature titles from the complete DiscoVision release library.
