I had a serious thing for Winona Ryder back in the day so my first LD purchases were all her movies back on 10/6/1991, Mermaids, Heathers, BeetleJuice, Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael and Edward Scissorhands :)

My first 12" LD was a promo disc that came with my Pioneer player. It was titled Laseroptics II (put out by Pioneer) and was basically showcasing the advantages of the laserdisc format. I haven't watch it for over 15 years so I cannot remember even a fraction of its content.

My favorite part of the LaserOptics II disc...

My first LD was Logan's Run: Special Edition (1976) [ML106353].

Conan the Barbarian (1981) [41018]. I bought a CLD-702 as my first player since I wanted to get the Criterion versions of Othello and Magnificent Ambersons and picked up the Conan disc in the store. Took a while to find the Criterions but finally did.

My first LaserDisc's were Friday the 13th, Olivia Physical and Queen Greatest Flix in the fall of 1982, and my parents got me the Pioneer LD-1100 for Xmas 82. My partners first disc was the DiscoVision The Bionic Woman in May of 1980 along with the Magnavox Magnavision VH-8000, when LV was launched in St.Louis, and which we still have, although the Magnavision doesn't work... Not that it ever worked properly. Except for a few titles here and there that I had duplicates of, I've never sold off my discs.

Mine was Emmanuelle, Queen of Sados: Snatched it way before I even got a player.

"Bond meets black Emmanuelle" directed by David Lean, with Patsy Stone as one of the Bond Girls. :D

Dunno about that but anything with always so sweet Laura Gemser is good watch for me, in addition to her appearance the most memorable scenes were the comedic bits where this gorgeous brunette gets constantly distracted from her cooking attempts by getting involved into bit different kind of steamy action :D

It was a joke based on the U.K. TV Show AbFab. "The man with thunderballs" is another "Bond" film the show's drug-addicted, chain smoking, alcoholic, massive Heroin overdose surviving, ex-sex change and nymphomaniac character, Patsy Stone, starred in, along with "Boobarella". In reality, the actress, Joanna Lumley, is a real Bond Girl (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) as well as a Hammer Girl and New Avenger.

Yeah, I understood the pun but couldn't spot the AbFab reference, I've probably missed the episode in question.

My first came with the first player I bought. I got it from a pawnbroker, a Pioneer CLD-S270, which came with Rock, The (1996) [8887 AS] and Men in Black (1997) [82656].

I had been keen on LD for a while, but could never afford it, or didn't have access, or any number of reasons. I just got lucky one day and traded for it. As soon as I put The Rock in I was hooked, the sound quality blew me away. I put Men In Black in and thought, 'what have I just wasted my money on'. But after a bit of investigation, which led me to LDDb.com and its amazing amount of helpful resources, I was ready to start amassing a collection.

A Fish Called Wanda. A buddy and I had just purchased a Laseractive machine for 75 dollars, and we were dying to test it out but had no discs. So one day while I was taking a private trumpet lesson my father drove down to a shop known as the Bop Shop, and picked up one of the few Laserdiscs they had in stock at the time. I didn't get to watch it at the time, as the player was busted, but man was it exciting.

My first LaserDisc was the Indiana Jones (Widescreen) Trilogy... although I think Raiders of the Lost Ark was the first one I actually picked up. See, a year or so ago when my girlfriend Allyson and I were at a record shop she pointed out the 'record' of Indiana Jones. I discovered that it was actually a LaserDisc and found the other two films in the LD section. A week or so after I got a player for $30 or so and ever since I've been hooked! :D

For me it was "Dream a Little Dream".
Dream A Little Dream (1988) [ID6631VE]
I still have it for sentimental reasons even though it has some rot.
The DVD is getting me through until I can find another Laserdisc in good shape.
To be young again...

Own that one too  Purchased from Half Price Book store for $3.98.

I also bought Laser Optics II from Half Price Books, though I'm pretty sure I only paid $.50 for it.

My first LD was Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) (Uncut) [LV32301-WS]

I was really impressed with the video quality of this disc and I would say that it rivals the DVD on a standard Def set. Plus, the audio is fantastic. Unfortunately, it also set a high standard for the rest of my collection because, as we all know, not all Laserdiscs are created (or I should probably say mastered) equally.

my first Laserdisc was Tim Burton's Batman which has mostly survived the abuse my brother meted out to my collection but side 4 is chipped so when my CLD-D925 arrives (which is the second machine of that model) i'll be able to see what lasting damage it's done to disc as in it's entirety. That film was the first time i saw NTSC video & frankly i wasn't impressed with the line structure but at the time that was the only version available plus films on NTSC Laserdiscs generally were uncut unlike some of the PAL versions
