I doubt it will sell for that price. With that start price I wonder how low a offer the seller will take.

Wow! Looks very well kept.
Transport? Not privy to that terminology.
Perhaps another member could weigh in on this MSB item.
Curious about "Best Offer" myself..
Stay tuned kids.......

The Questions and answers about this item section brought up an interesting point.

Quote:
Q: $2K ROFL. It's never been serviced in 17 yrs, and the bottom line is a $25 Walmart DVD player will blow it out of the water in terms of image quality. A Runco LJR II sold for $700 a few months back, it's as equal and just as rare as this player. Also made by MSB. Dec-08-11
A: Sorry to offend you-did you miss the part about Best Offer?

This would be an interesting comparison. DVD technology does have the technical capability to surpass the picture quality of a LaserDisc. However a WalMart $25 DVD player? If they sell the player for $25 and make a profit ... that includes bulk shipping, manufacture, sales, storage ... etc ... how much is left to put into quality parts :wtf: Good chance that's it's a total piece of junk that is made with cheapest parts possible by people who work for next to nothing and could care less about the quality of the product they are selling.

IMHO from personal experience ... not all DVD(s) provide the same picture and sound quality on well mastered DVD(s). The above statement would make for an interesting comparison test.

I've seen the phrase about quite a bit but like you I don't know what it means, it seems to add value to a player though.

Perhaps a player designed for the transport industry (in flight movies etc) that has good shielding from movement and noise interference?

"Transport" is a term used by the high-end audio people ; MSB Technologies, which modified this hunk-o-junk out of a Panasonic LX-900, qualifies. Basically it refers to, for example, a CD player with no DAC section, which exists purely to get the bits off the disc & "transport" them to an external processor. This is supposed to introduce the least degradation in the signal path. Obviously, this is somewhat misleading here, since the video & analog audio certainly are output in analog form — they didn't restrict you to digital composite output (used with the Ampex D2 video tape format) or digitize the analog audio.

The standard Runco LJR II is a transport as well--no DAC, but they did make a few models with the "optional" DAC installed.
