Just searching again on eBay and I think I may have discovered the worlds rarest disc.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STERN-ELECTRONICS-BRUCE-JENNER-GOLD-MEDAL-LASER-DISC-PROTOYPE-ULTRA-RARE-/120824482694?pt=US_Laserdisc&hash=item1c21b34b86
Apparently this LD prototype is one of only 4 to exist. Two have gone bad and only two survive. This disc is apparently a video game of "Gold Medal" Made by Stern Electronics and pressed on a Scotch 3M disc. I searched LDDB and it is not on there. I don't know if there are any rarer disc. Only 2 discs in the whole world. The price is certainly expensive.
This is by far the rarest I've seen but are there any rarer than this?

Since it's a video game prototype, does it count as a LD?

More information can be found on KLOV:

I have two pretty rare LDs. I don't know if they are the rarest EVER, but they're rare:

1. Song of the South, Hong Kong edition
2. The Prince of Tides, original Criterion pressing

TLK

The rarest discs ever are from the original MCA DiscoVision catalog - titles like "Solar System/The Universe" and "The Amish" - for years these were thought by collectors like me not to have been pressed, but they were, in very small quantities at the Torrance MCA DiscoVision Pilot Plant.

So glad to see you here. I've used your site more times than I can remember and it made me want to collect the earliest discs, (so this is partially your fault haha). The update looks great by the way. A couple years ago I found The Blue Lagoon Columbia disc and wanted to get the information to you but could never find an email. I actually have 2 copies if you need one. Thanks again for the site.

I just saw a copy of Solar System/ The universe go for around $250. Just proves a point. That disc is considered the rarest of Discovision discs, (could be the rarest disc ever made) but it only went for a small price when you think of that transformers movie that mikeystorz is showing. $2800. :o

now five faces of darkness from season 3 of transformers, that's a rare disc, i hear only 500 were made. Then there's that G.I. Joe disc "arise serpentor" that's ultra rare too. Also there were a couple of episodes of ninja turtles released on laserdisc that are rarely seen, one was just up on ebay for 10$ but no one bought it...

DORK ALERT

I have the entire series of "Speed Racer" from Japan (Mach Go Go Go). Certainly not the rarest, but I've never even seen it in the quarterly japanese LD catalog.
