Well, in all the earlier time I collected LDs first, I have collected so much of them, and also such a lot of significant ones. With LDs I made my first experiences at all for movies in letterbox and learned about terrific new quality (in contrary to VHS). But there are some movies, like this one, which are a mystery for me, as I can not understand the kind of release:

There were two releases for the 1956 classic version of this movie version from Jules Verne. First release was 1987 - with Pan & Scan ratio and Stereo Sound. then there was a "remastered" edition in 1991, when Letterbox yet was quite current then yet. But the "remastered" edition was Pan & Scan again, only the sound was in Dolby Surround now. But Pan & Scan for a 2,20:1 movie is a totally "no-go" for me. I can not understand why this decision was made - no letterbox edition ever. Can anybody explain it to me, of all things this movie without the original aspect ratio? Seems very strange to me...
