Hi guys,
I know this is an old discussion but I would love to know, just in a few words, what's the best way to connect my laserdisc player.
I am just using a scart to scart connection right now.
What's the best way to do in order to upgrade the video quality?
Cheers

Vince

Composite or SCART direct to the TV would be superior than S-Video. If you wanted to get better results via HDMI you'd have to buy a DVD recorder and/or a good video processor for upscaling and de-interlacting.

Thanks a lot.
I have an old Sony DVD recorder (2003-2004 era) but it is PAL only.
Would it work it fine?

Unless you want to use a lot of money, I would just connect it directly to the TV with SCART/composite. Most likely it has a fairly good comb filter already compared to what is built into the player. DVD recorder is a good idea with regards to comb filtering, but those with good filters seems to only have been released in USA. Still haven't seen a EU model with the same filters. You would most likely have to import one from USA or Japan, and then also only limited to NTSC video. I highly doubt those DVD recorders support PAL.

What you can do, however, is to disable every "enhancement" in your TV settings menu. Turn off Noise Reduction, Edge Enhancement, Motion Smoother etc.
