Nice! I been trying to track down Simply Red: Greatest Video Hits as I regret passing that one up when I saw it in Hong Kong way back when (I opted for the VCD instead, as it was cheaper and I had already bought a ton of LDs at that point.) EDIT: Hah, just for the hell of it, I decided to check to see if the music store in which I saw that LD in Hong Kong is still there. It is! Hong Kong Records in the Pacific Place Mall, Admiralty, HK! Hong Kong RecordsDamn, I miss that place! I picked up a bunch of US released anime LDs there, as well as some Anime music CDs (which were oddly enough cheaper than what they would cost in Japan!)

Finally had a decent score after 1 year or so. I replied to a listing online for about 75 titles for $50. I went to pick them up yesterday. The guy had one of the most amazing LD collections I have seen to date. About 1000 Lds nearly half of them Japanese imports. Complete X-files volumes, Millennium volumes, Twin Peaks volumes, The prisoner to name a few. All Disney box sets, complete Criterion titles each with their 1st pressings(complete with the letter, survey etc..) many late 1999 and 2000 releases. His equipment for LD was no joke either. HLD-X9 into Lumagen Radiance XS into JVC projector onto 120" screen. He said he bought almost all of them brand new back in the day. He paid about $350 for each volume of X-Files.
anyways back to topic. I tried to convince him into selling many titles from his collection he politely declined. I was able to convince him into selling me The Matrix, V:mini series, V:Final Battle, V2: complete season(Japanese), CBS/FOX WS Star Wars set, THX Faces Star Wars set, The Prisoner volumes 1-9 (US pressing), Northern Exposures set, a number of box sets (12 monkeys, Nightmare before xmass, Wild Bunch etc.. and another 70 or so LDs for $200 cash.
The Matrix alone went for $180 on last ebay auction. This one is in mint condition. He said he bought it new in 1999.

disclord wrote: Congrats, its a great release. Did you win the original big silver box version or the second smaller silver box version? If your copy doesn't come with all the paperwork originally included, I'll send you scans of it so you have it all. Hi, just to let you know that I finally got my copy of Citizen Kane: Special Edition #1 # (1941) [CC101]. Unfortunately it came up on eBay as I was about to move house so I got it posted to my work address and wasn't able to pick it up until yesterday. Fortunately it's in excellent condition and as far as I can tell it comes with all the paperwork: I got number 712, does anyone know how many were made? It's a beautiful set, Criterion really put in a lot of effort. I've not had the time to watch it all yet but I popped the first disc in last night to check it out; the picture quality is simply amazing! Definitely the best quality black and white film I've seen on laserdisc, and pretty high on the list of picture quality overall. Nice to see the cue marks too. One thing that I have found disappointing so far though are the side changes which have both felt rather clunky, but then when I think about it I can't think of any clean scene changes in the film, only fades so I guess there wasn't really much Criterion could do about it. Another little gem I managed to get my hands on since my last post is Leonard Nimoy Demonstrates the Magnavision Videodisc Player (1981) [07-562]: A great little oddity. I was a bit worried when I got it as there was visible discolouration on the disc and the inner lining sheet had disintegrated, covering the disc with little bits, but after a good clean the disc played fine both sides with nothing more than the lightest of speckle that you'd expect from a Discovision pressing. I love the letter that comes with the disc: By the way, does anyone else think the two sales people look like two certain Quahog News presenters?

Finally found a really nice copy of Salute of the Jugger (1988) (Uncut) [PILF-1102] ! I just love this little "post-apocalypse gang fight" movie because it's kinda freaky / trashy but damn cool at the same time. Not to mention the brilliant transfer of both picture and sound which is WAYS better compared to the DVD version I found in the UK last year.

xtempo wrote: is that the same as the MKR OAV DVD that was released in the US? I don't know, because I'm not acquainted with that DVD. The original release of the Rayearth OVA was three episodes of about 45 minutes ( Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) ; this cut is a single "feature" of about 120 minutes. What changes were made, besides cutting out the credit sequences, I'm not sure.
