Please do follow up! If the U.S. version does appear to be open matte I'd be perfectly happy with it.

I just got the Japanese Herald Videogram Laserdisc of THE EVIL DEAD!! :D

Payed quite a bit for it, but I am glad I did because the blue tint to the colour timing looks awesome! it really makes the film even creepier!

I have the us release on ld and dvd. Thry are both 1.33:1 with the same cover art. Dvd is dd 2.0 at 128kbps. Ld is lossless pcm with
Surround. Dvd sounds thin. But this is a low budget film as you know. Dvd has no extras(maybe trailer). Its an early dvd from late 90s so pq is ave to low in dvd standards. Ld is late 90s so pretty good in ld terms. On a good system it matches dvd. I prefer ld release. Price wise they cost the same. About 10 bucks.
Therr is a sequal from 2009 or 2010. Not on par with original but I still enjoyed it a lot. Lance henricksen is in it.
Alliance from canada released it on bd(dvd everywhere else)

Cliffhanger japanese ac3 squeeze edition for 44shipped. No one seems to care about this release. I ve been seeing it for lower prices than other squeeze releases past year or so. I guess all the squeeze collectors own this title. I decided snag it. My first squeeze ld with ac3. I like the film too

I get the feeling Cliffhanger is the most common Squeeze release. I wish there was something Squeeze I actually liked so I could buy at least one of the things. I guess it will be T2 since I...sorta like it...

My most recent purchases: I finished off my Gundam 0083 collection with volumes 7-12 today (had 1-6 and the two promo LD Singles already). Also got the Dirty Pair TV/OVA box. Man, that thing is beautiful.

I also got this gorgeous thing:

How To Steal A Million (1966) [PILF-1218]
Image

Sadly its P&S, but it was cheap and the wide version has a cover that isn't as incredibly great.

Seriously, check out all the VHS and DVD covers, theatrical posters, etc, and tell me any of them are %1 as cool as this?

BTW, Japanese language titled is "Fashion Thief" which is also pretty rad.

Well, I DID win the original release of FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR,
Image
but got an email this AM that he accidently already sold it LAST WEEK...ARGH!
So, if i pursue it, should i get the ORIGINAL or the RE-RELEASE?
Are they identical, or is there changes made on the rerelease?
Okay, now for the stuff i WON and haven't paid yet, but am expecting to:
The TWO movies I wanted the MOST from this guy, DARYL and ENDLESS SUMMER II: Daryl is a great movie, and I only have ever had the VHS of it:
Image
and same for ENDLESS SUMMER II, I wore that VHS OUT!!! Great surfing doc, with loads of humour!
Image
Star Trek TNG is the greatest of all of the series, and even though I have them all on DVD, This one has a great looking cover, and the MASTERPIECE episode is one of my ALL-TIME faves because it makes a great case for the value of ALL Life (like people with disabilities)
Image
Because I needed 5 to get free S&H, and because I do love the Bible, but am nit-picky about attempts to animate it:
Image
Because it's rare, nothing on youtube about it, and on imdb it says it's the first of that 1990s genre of ninja kids:
Image
Plus, i had to get 5 to get free S&H.

I love it!

Another purchase I couldn't pass up -- laserdiscvault had a copy of Haunted priced very realistically, and on sale, so I grabbed it. I still would like it in WS but that seems almost impossible.

Haunted (1995) [ID3511HL]

xtempo nice seeing you posting again I do like your avatar. :)

I have one LD still in transit that I bought early this week "STAR TREK GENERATIONS" (1994) Dolby AC-3 USA pressing should be here maybe this week or early around next week.
Star Trek VII: Generations (1994) [LV 32988-2WS]

Bought tonight

"Broken Arrow" (1996) Dolby AC-3 USA pressing, really silly low price £1.99 its almost as cheap than the cinema today with tickets at £15.00.
Broken Arrow (1996) [0896385]

I noticed its Possible candidate but that doesn't worry me in the least if it is, so be it.

"STAR TREK III THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK" (1984) NTSC USA pressing I have the PAL version but I'm not crazy about some PAL releases not a fan of PAL speed NTSC sound better.

Huh, Julian, the URL on the OST seem to be not working?

and that's that for LD buying for now.

Edit:

Watching on youtube "Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead" (1995)

Halfway though the film I like what I see and hear and decided to buy it on LD cheaply

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995) [6181 AS]

That is it NOW no more Laserdiscs until next month.

I don't pay attention to the possible rot reports at all. I just got some dollar discs from Duff including My Best Friends Wedding and Maverick, both of which are listed as DADC pressed rotters - and they are fine.

Last Laserdisc I bought was Hammered: Best of Sledge.

Nice supplement to my Laserdisc collection.
Already have the two season dvd box set, but couldn't let this one go away.

Presented in full screen and digital audio mono.
No laserrot of concern and a good and stable picture. I believe there is some audible changes compared to the dvd version, but can't confirm these for sure.

The entire first season of "Sledge Hammer" was issued in Japan. Alas, it is dubbed in Japanese - no English at all.
