I got 63 LDs last weekend from a warehouse in Hong Kong for 20 Hong Kong Dollars a piece. Many discs were still sealed. I got the Samurai Trilogy from Criterion and some really rare Japanese LDs such as Hamburger Hill or two Jean-Paul Belmondo films. I also got the 8 inch Madonna: Like A Virgin from Japan. However I think my most valuable LD is a sealed copy of the Japanese movie Violent Cop by Takeshi Kitano. It must be pretty rare I guess. I really like the cover and I love the movie.

20 Hong Kong dollars each sounds expensive. What does that work out at in US or UK or AUS dollars. I was planning a holiday to an Asian country and i though Hong Kong would be a good idea for the main reason of being able to buy LDs. I don't think i would get may LDs in Thailand or Bali Did you post them home to Germany or take them with you in your luggage?

From what I remember (so long as the exchange hasn't changed) it's like HK$6-7 to US$1. So HK$20 is like US$3.

However it might be difficult to find LDs in HK. If you go to the local flea markets you wil find a couple if LDs but mostly in really bad shape. I took 63 LDs and I put almost all of them into a small box and had it checked it into the plane. They al arrived in good shape however thats all a bit risky.

I won't bother you with questions when i can find the answer myself. So why do you think i will not find many LDs when you were able to find 63 LDs you wanted? That's a bit of a strange statement

I met the guy by chance. If you go the flea market yourself and if you don't speak Chinese you might be very disappointed. My seller for instance does not speak English. We only communicate in Mandarin. Many people in HK speak English but not a lot really well and some don't speak it at all.
