Fantasia Deluxe CAV. Actually got a few dozen LDs so I can't list them all, but this one stands out. The picture quality is stupendous! Looks very organic and can see pencil and drawing shades on all the animations; no halos either. I've no idea if there's a digital print that looks like this since most are bleached out with details gone. Maybe a DVD print? Those recent Cinderella bluray re-releases look like garbage (I'm not kidding but the VHS of that film looks way better than the DNR'd bluray. Some folks elsewhere have compared the bluray release and it's horrible.). Also got disappointed with my LD-717. Put Aliens Special Widescreen Collector's Edition CAV disc in player, and it spun the disc against the tray. Got upset as the disc now has a deep radius and skips in my other player . Maybe some toothpaste and slight buffering can fix that hehe ... Fantasia Deluxe CAV set. LD-V4200 and PVR-150; yv12, no filtering, no agc, 5 line 2d combing, and a dose of saturation and brightness from VLC:

Finally after many years I found a 100% mint JP release of my favorite concert of Tina Turner ... (have seen a couple though but with discolored sleeve) Tina Turner: Queen of Rock & Roll [LVB-2003]It is her 1981 concert in the Apollo (Harlem NY): I also have the PAL version of this title, I was lucky enough to find one with no rot several years ago. Tina Turner: Queen of Rock & Roll (1982) [405.3113](as it is an early Sonopress Germany disc which are very prone to have laser rot) However the JP disc is much better, although it is a 1985 release (Pioneer), never re-released afterwards.

I made another trip to Thomas Video, possibly my last since they are closing soon. This time I went upstairs where it is 100ºF and pitch black, but FULL OF WONDERS. I'm very happy for Tokyo Olympiad #117 (1965) [CC1227L]. I've wanted that thing forever. Also, Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983) [TSVM49936]. I'm told the DVD is terrible, and it must be if this LD is superior. Its not that horrendous for HK standards, but its not exactly good either. They have another copy of Legend of the Forest/Astro Boy (1963) [LVD9508]. I highly recommend this release for any Tezuka fan. All of this and a couple of DVDs was about $330, with Tokyo Olympiad being the most expensive by far. A few of these I only got because they were AC3, for example, ID4. That movie is naff but I'm sure it will rumble like mad and that's cool once in a while.

LD looked great! Didn't notice aliasing unlike most 90s prints, and the colors really pop out (wonder if this is one of those super-ntsc LDs).
