I have found this on the Wikipedia;

Alien Saga, a UK VHS boxed set released in 1997 with the first three films plus a "Making of Alien Resurrection" cassette. It was released again in 1998 with the Alien Resurrection film included. It is also the name of a Japan-exclusive Laserdisc pack containing the first three films was released in 1999[37] (a planned U.S. version was canceled as DVDs were quickly taking over the much smaller domestic Laserdisc market in that country)

In the database appears as Alien Saga these:

Ah, I see. So the sets released around the time of Resurrection (but before the home release) were already renamed the Saga even though they only featured the Trilogy. Makes sense. At least now it's known as Anthology, the word "Quadrilogy" used to always make me wince.

I got those from my friend who was ordering stuff from Japan.

The X2 disc has a few scratches that affect the last minute of the video making it unplayable (kinda weird, since I can rewind at that part, but I can't play it), and 30 seconds before that there's a scratch on the center of the screen. Aside from this one, all other discs are fine.

Nice find! One of my favourite films but very rarely comes up for sale. Sadly mine is pretty rotted : (

Are these CAV discs? Sounds like it could be a player alignment problem rather than the discs themselves. I had the same issues on some CAV discs with my first player.

I have other CAV discs, and they play fine, only this one has a problem. Out of those X, On Your Mark and Ranma 1/2 Nettou Uta Gassen are CAV's.

My S-104 is out of alignment just enough to have issues with some CAV discs, not all.

It doesn't affect all CAV discs, just some, I think it depends on the running length. I only had a problem with two of my discs, both played fine on my next player. I only found out afterwards that my first player was slightly out of alignment. I think it's a fairly simple fix.

Well, someone from one of the LD groups on Facebook said that the X2 laserdisc has some defects like audio pops or video dropouts, and his disc has some issues too, so it's not just my disc.

Well you don't see this everyday. Just found this for less than a buck. I'd say it was a good day.

Hi bmich1,

Yes, I dare say that it was a very good day for you! :D An extremely nice find, especially at that price! :thumbup: I don't see an OBI in the picture, but for less than a buck, we can't complain too much about that. Now, I just hope that you don't find it to be a rotter, since that is the earlier release of Song of the South. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on that one. Enjoy it very much, because it is a really nice thing to stumble across! Good job! :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

There's a local chain of record stores called Rasputin Music in the Bay Area that also sells a decent amount of Laserdiscs. Most of their Laserdiscs are a few bucks and under. This was in a bin with other movie goodies hidden behind some tshirts. I don't think there's a ton who collect in my area since I've found many good discs from them. In the same bin was Star Wars and Empire....both for .95 each also. I'll check it out to make sure it's not a rotter when I get home. As far as the Obi goes, for a buck I guess I can't be to choosy. :)

That has to be the find of the century...ok I admit that we're only 15 years in but it's been a slow century.

I just bought myself the first Japanese release of Evil Dead. I paid a bit more than I probably should have (it's the most I've ever spent on a single disc!) but sometimes when you want something you just have to go for it. I can't wait for it to arrive :)

Even though I am a bit of a horror movie freak, I actually never saw this one, so I grabbed it on ebay.
