Got a bunch more DiscoVision films in an eBay lot a few weeks ago: ![]() And this arrived today. One of my favorite movies, but I'd never seen the original short film it was based on:

Was out and about today and picked up about 20 more movies. Among them was the T2 3 disc box set in excellent condition. Some may complain about the extra room left inside but man, does it look gorgeous on the shelf. Plus the price was right like usual.

The extra space is the perfect amount for a single disc film...such as The Terminator. |

Three more DiscoVision titles arrived today! "Slaughterhouse Five" is still sealed. Side 1 of "Diary of a Mad Housewife" is rotted, sadly, and won't play -- throws a P5 error on my player.

That's really a bummer about Housewife - I did a bit of googling and it turns out it's a rather rare title that's never gotten a proper modern release! (Amazon can do DVD-R's, but they're VHS quality apparently!) (A Technicolor IB print sold for $300 last month...) |

The rot doesn't look that bad, either -- just some tiny speckles toward the center of the disc. I have a couple of films that look worse physically yet play more or less fine, like my Image Entertainment copy of Robocop... but I guess it's just right to keep the player from reading it :/ I only spent a few dollars on it, though, so I guess I can't complain too much. Still, I'd like a fully functional copy, so if anyone has another copy lying around, let me know! |

The Black Hole (1979) What an excellent movie seemingly forgotten by time. Interestingly enough, the transfer for this title is accidentally anamorphic, but the original aspect ratio is close enough to 16:9 that the stretch-o-vision picture scaling option (ie stretch a full 4:3 frame into a full 16:9 frame) on my TV was useful for the first time. ![]()

If just the beginning's got speckles, it might be possible to put the player into test mode and try to skip ahead on the disk. elektrotanya has the 504 (the model the 59's dolled up from) service manual up for free. particle - cool |

Hot damn, you're a genius! I tried it out and presto, the disc plays! Thanks so much for suggesting that! |

Just came across these on a drive to Hard Off. ![]() ![]() Laseractives are missing the OBIs and Hard-Off put their price sticker on the jackets annoyingly. Otherwise the jackets discs are in pretty nice condition. Too bad I don't have a player. |

Nice find! Agree, the hard off stickers is so annoying to get off that i onlybuy rare titles, if its a common title i only buy it if the tag is on the outside plastic. It takes about an half hour to get that off and remove the glue, but it can be done. Lighter, paper tissues and aceton with a lot of patience. |

Got my largest eBay win yet in today! ![]() Some duplicates, but that's fine by me. Lets me build some really nice sets. The CPR disc is of special interest to me because I'm an EMT and I was curious to see how much CPR has changed in the last 35+ years... and it has definitely changed. Also, as I'm going through and inspecting these more closely, I've found that at least two discs so far -- Disc 1 of "Frenzy" and Disc 2 of "The Sting" -- have disc labels on the wrong side. Must investigate further! |
