I got the LD copy of Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters a couple of days ago. It chronicles the career of Karen and Richard Carpenter from their high school years up to the death of Karen in 1983. It is a very nostalgic story of their music.

The LD is similar to my CED copy of The Compleat Beatles which chronicled their career from the early 1950's to their breakup in 1970 (I think it was).

Got the following titles in the mail today:

Apocalypse Now (1979) [PILF-1573]
Enter the Dragon: 25th Anniversary (1973) (Uncut) [PILF-2656]
Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) [PILF-2694]

I also got the Neon Genesis Evangelion box set, but my set have another catalog number which is not in the database. Apart from that, it is identical to Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Movie: Limited Box (1997) [KILA 9401~4]. Guess I'll have to add my set to the database.

Best part: Both Enter the Dragon and Evangelion sets are sealed! Nothing beats the feeling of opening a brand new laserdisc. Got them both for under 50 dollars. :)

Soon the rest of the Evangelion series should arrive. Might be a week or so.

Goodness gracious! That's better than the deal I got on the Eva movie box, considering that mine is missing some of the "goodies".

Hold on to something. I paid, in fact, 15 USD for it. The other sets for the TV series were also 15 dollars each, but haven't arrived yet. The Enter the Dragon set were 25 USD. Shipping is not included in that price, of course.

I've been told the Evangelion sets are fairly common, but can be a bit tricky to find in complete/good condition. They're also Japanese only, so not that many foreigners interested in buying those anyway.

I recently got Water Colors off ebay for about £15(including shipping). A bit disappointed with it to be honest.

Could you please take a picture of that catalog number, also where is it exactly: On the outer box, or on the LD jackets inside the box?

Thanks!

Here you go, lons_vex! As you can see, the box has the catalog number KFOLA-157. Checked the existing box in the database, and the cover picture has the catalog number in the same spot. The barcode is replaced with the ISBN number on my set as well. Can't find KILA 9401~4 anywhere. The jackets have the numbers KILA 9401/2 and KILA 9403/4.

Very interesting!
Thanks a lot for those pictures!

This is a very nice box set and I am sure the content is awesome too but without English subtitles, its a very expensive door stop for me.

Any suggestions to why my box have a different number? I guess it might be a re-release of some sort. The contents are the same as KILA 9401~4, can't find any difference.

Haha, thx mate, I have this amp since it came out. Was reading about it in Widescreen review and thought: Thats it, thats the amp to end all amps. Still loving it, it´s kinda, "they don´t do ´em like this anymore". Never had any problems with my AVC A1 SE (besides the fact that I managed to kill my remote control TWICE) - First time walking on it (you don´t do that) and second time I managed to throw a glass of jam on it (you don´t do that either). That happened in a time, when Touchscreen gadgets were very expensive...Now that was bad luck! I hope you didn´t make the same experiences :D Besides, i own also a CLD-925..(on this one I never stepped..)

Picked these up for $12 at a record store in San Francisco on the way to pick up my son at SF State.

Haven't bought anything in ages but last week Evil Dead, The (1981) [STLI-3001] popped up on the Swedish market with obi at a reasonable. I know some people here prefer the other Japanese release but I mainly bought it for the cover as it looks so awesome. The same guy had Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn (1987) [STLI-3021], also at a good price, but I never thought that film was anything special while the first one really got my attention.

Found my first good haul locally (20-something titles) in a while all for $2 each at a local thrift. Got Golden Age of Looney Tunes 1-3 (no 4-5 alas), a couple of criterions, a couple of Disneys, some random movies, and 80's/90's CGI disks including a Japanese one.

No I never trod on the remote or sent it to a sticky jam death, but I think it was one of the very first touch-screen remotes to come with an av amp. The way it operates, changing screens etc I found very cumbersome so replaced it with a simple but very effective touch-screen learning remote (Sunwave SRC-3200).

It's a really great amp that pretty much set a new benchmark at the time. I got mine second hand in 2007. If I was buying now then perhaps something like an avc-a1xv / avr-5805 would be in the price range these days; but I've never felt any real desire to upgrade and the on-board RF demodulator is very handy.

Mail the other day included all five "Galaxy Fraulein Yuna" LDs. That is, I think, half of the known "pit-art" picture discs (each one different). Too bad such a spectacular feature was wasted on such a mediocre show.
