I just purchased "Emmanuel:The Joys Of A Woman" released in 1975, mainly because it isn't available on DVD and I was curious to see what feeling of nostalgia this soft "p0rn" erotic tale might invoke in me, some 30 years later. I picked it up on eBay for $5.00 and was not disappointed.

Nice haul you got there. Wish I could come across something that locally! I'd love to get that CC decoder, been looking for one with s-video for quite some time now. The one I have now only has RF and composite video, and composite output has a lot of rainbow colors in the picture...

Upload a picture of the haul if possible. :)

the Dune Film + TV boxset came in the other day. Very happy to finally track it down since it doesn't come up all that often on Yahoo. PQ on the TV version is pretty good, but there seems to be some quality differences between scenes. All are watchable, but the Colors differ do to mastering on the De Laurentiis' part (deleted scenes being added in and whatnot).

Sadly, there's some minor damage done to the gatefold. Might have happened during shipping idk. Nothing too major, just slightly dented in. But on the flip side, USPS tried to ship it about an hour north of me. Not sure how that happened since the town they tried to ship it to isn't even remotely similar in name. At least it wasn't shipped to another state or farther away.

I'll post a pic once it's all in it's place. I have a real hard time sorting them out!

So far I found these SEALED boxsets mint.
Lonesome dove
The nightmare before christmas
The ultimate OZ
My fair lady
Pinocchio
The day the earth stood still (autographed edition)
Amadeus
The African Queen
They shoot horses don't they
Charles bronson 3 films in box Chato's Land, Breakhart pass, The white Buffalo cat.nr.: ML105243
Ben Hur
Jurassic Park
The Abyss
Snowwhite & the 7 little guys....

and many more boxsets in more than decent condition with the occasional little "things"

On top of the NTSC single titels :
An additional 150 FRENCH dubbed laserdiscs that aren't worth... :shh: well you know ;)

Hope I find a buyer for those Frenchies... I don't like those. Got lucky selling 180 french discs some years ago for about 175 euro. I was happy to see them go. French buyers don't grow on trees sadly

Promised the CC decoder to a friend a long time ago, ... I'm sorry

Yes, French dubbed movies aren't that easy to get rid of. Or... dubbed laserdiscs would be hard, I'm sure something more modern like DVD or Blu-Ray are easier to sell! Why not just keep them? I'm sure the different cover art it self on those is interesting enough. At least part of the fun with laserdiscs in my opinion, and why I like to collect this format. :)

Post subject:  Re: What was the last laserdisc you bought?

in all honesty I don't like altered language movies in general.
I can't see how they are enjoyable. Even threw some in the garbage years ago. call me crazy if you like. :shh:
It's a French thing I guess... everything in France needs to be French.
I have most Bond 007 discs on PAL LD now. opération Tonnerre...
Do hope a "French" collector wants these .

I enjoyed the more recent "La French" movie alot. One of my favorite Blu ray discs. The French make great cinema you know :!: Les Lyonnais ( a gang story) is another great film.
Imagine those being dubbed in English or even Dutch.... :o
Down the drain they go IMHO

Living In Belgium they're might be a chance I get rid of them... We are a Dutch-French speaking country

anyway,

They need to go

Yes, they make some great movies. I really enjoyed The Intouchables from 2011. Very funny movie!

I generally don't like dubs my self. There are some exceptions, like old martial arts movies from Hong Kong for example. You know, those with really bad sync when dubbed and all that. I find those really funny. :)

I hope you find someone that want the movies. Would be a shame to throw them in the bin eventhough they're dubbed.

How I envy you :D  So christmas came early this year? I´m curious, did you find a local seller in your country or did you travel? And well...we all would like to know the price ;)
Yes, well, the french discs, I have the same "problem" with some of them. I really don´t want to keep them, but some of them aren´t dubbed but have subtitles, so this makes it a bit easier. But please, don´t throw them away
Les Lyonais - excellent movie, saw it three times and it´s getting better with every viewing!I wouldn´t want to watch it dubbed, be it english, german etc.

With those two I have all the Disney Animated Film LD box sets. At least the US released ones. Though I don't think I'll double up on the Japanese Box sets that already have a US release (I have gotten the Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin Japanese box sets as there was no US box set for those.)

I thought there were US releases of Aladdin and beauty and the beast box sets.

That Aladdin release is just a gatefold. Really nice packaging though.

No US B&TB boxset. IIRC, All the contents of the Japanese boxset are available in the US. But the WIP discs in the boxset are not rotters, as the US release was.

Yeah like Virtual said, that's just a gatefold, not a box. And no, there was no US Box for Beauty and the Beast.

I think the first US released box set for any Disney Animated film was The Lion King released in Sept 95, then Cinderella released one month after.

Surely films that "brought back the magic" like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast would have benefited greatly from special edition box sets in the US, but for whatever reason, they didn't make any. Though Mermaid did get a THX CAV remaster release.
