Ive heard of some really big box sets but its not always so easy to understand exactly have big they are. Here is one found on ebay at the moment.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Osamu-Tezuka-AS ... 116wt_1163

Astroboy: Limited Deluxe Edition (1963) [SF220-1700]

47 LDS and a retail price on 213592 JPY = 2000 euro, 3000 usd... ! If I lived in the us I would already put a bid on it even if I dont understand japanese =)

It would be extremly fun to know how many they could sell of boxes with this size.

does any one know of to save the picture from the auction so we can save it in this thread ?

hehe didnt think about that until you wrote it, but the "box" is on the last pictures, not so exclusive.

Last two pictures shows what I call a "shipping box".
Inside that box usually is "the real LD box" of such a set.
This was used for protection by the manufacturer, so that an expensive set would look perfect when it arrived at the customers place.
But I don't know any details about this set.

However the largest set ever still is this one:
Urusei Yatsura: Perfect TV Collection (1981) [KFLD-1001~1050]

It's approx. 31cm wide and weights something like 22kg.
And the price was 330.000 Yen, which blows away the Astro Boy price easily :P

Re: How to make a picture... just hit "print" on your keyboard to screenshot whatever you like.
Paste it into your fave picture tool.
Cut away whatever you don't need... done (on windoze).

There aren't that many music LDs that came in big fat box sets....however there are a few:

The biggest music laserdisc box set I own is the Frank Sinatra boxset:
Frank Sinatra: My Way - Video Collection 1965-1982 [BML-14]

It consisted of a really heavy hinged box with gold foil lettering which itself came in a custom, luggage-style, cardboard carrying case with strap handle!

It is quite cool - I'll post a pic when I get a chance.

Some of my boxed sets are number like 1/2 so I can only imagine if you got them all together. Tenchi Muyo is one of them. I have boxed numbered 7 1/2. It has 7 discs in it so we are talking about over 50 discs total. Anything that costs over 2k new is something I have to bid on. Just put one in. Will I get it, doubt it, if I do it will be cool, and a centerpiece of my collection.

I guess you will not be bidding on Frank Sinatra boxset then as it 'only' cost $1,260 USD!

What?
I guarantee you, there are no "50 discs" of Tenchi. What collection do you have?

There are not seven seasons of Tenchi Muyo. There is one 13-episode OVA series, 3 movies, & 2 TV series of 26 episodes each.
Now, for the second TV series, volume 7 came with a box to hold volumes 7-13. Maybe that is what you have.

Puh if only I remembered the exact name of the Box...
There was a "classic music" box released on PAL format which had 26 LD's inside.
Might have been something along the way of great composers like Mozart, Wagner or so...
But I cannot find the website again that had a picture of it.

The hardback book lists everything he recorded with detailed colour pictures of his career, discography and filmography.
The paper book is a complete set of lyrics.
There is also a numbered card with two trading cards attached.

Inner box lower compartment:

This houses 12 laserdiscs which you can easily remove using the red ribbon:
