sweden had censorship from 1911 to 1995.
last movie to butcher was Casino in 1995.
they butchered lots of movies just for fun.
it's like putting a band aid on Mona lisas t***y to remove sexual content with a naked breast

the oldest censorship in the world!!
84 years is a long time in a democracy

Should be mentioned that when Casino screened in Sweden, there was an intro with Martin Scorsese telling the audience that they would not get to enjoy the film in its original form.

The last film to be banned from theatrical distribution here was Hard-Boiled. Scanbox then tried to release some of his earlier films on home market, which resulted in two banned films (Bullet in the Head and The Killer) and a heavily cut, dubbed version of A Better Tomorrow on VHS.

Wow,I did not know this information.
Truly any work should be cut,It should be seen as the creator made.

I agree with the as the creator made thing but "cuts" are not always done by so called "censors".

Our UK BBFC (before 1985 when the "C" stood for CENSORS & not as is now classification) did "cut" films but often in the most odd ways while others passed with no issues. To be fair to them though they did at times stand up for exhibitors in the past, some strange things happened back in the day.

Now a feature is passed to them (the BBFC) from the distributors with in most cases them being asked to view most features to a favoured rating by the distributor. As an example SPECTRE was always going to be at a UK 12A BBFC (the distributors favoured rating for the feature) & if you check the BBFC site it states that..... all known versions of this work passed uncut but that was only after consultation BEFORE it was submitted for BBFC classification. Again from the site..... During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission.

It appears that to get SPECTRE the UK 12A rating around a quarter of a second-ish or so was removed (cut!!!) to ensure it would get its 12A rating without so called "cuts" being declared (penetrative stab to neck removed) but that is a cut whatever way you wish to look at it in my opinion.

So a feature that is stated as "passed without cuts" by the BBFC here in the UK may have additional time/scenes in other territories so that is uncut then?!?

I personally, for a number of reasons, don't like so called censorship..... Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication or other information which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by governments, media outlets, authorities or other groups or institutions. Who censors the censors?!?

I think Netherlands never had censorship?
they seem to have been very liberal with dope and movies back in the 80's.
