Most of my LDs are protected by crappy opaque plastic LP storage sleeves because that's all I've been able to find locally. They have had about 1cm of overhang on most LDs making the spine really hard to read. Anyway I think want to upgrade to Japanese style crystal clear closing sleeves in the future. In the meantime I've spent 4 hours with a ruler and a stanley knife taking a cm off the side of my current sleeves. Much better!

Before

Wouldn't it have been easier to just flip them so the open end is on the same side as on the sleeve, negating the need to remove the cover entirely when takin the disc out, and then simply fold the overhang?

No because there's a seam on the closed end that obscures the spine.

I love the goofiness of it. I always think of it as an important link between super robot and real robot.

While I understand why you put the discs in the bag the way you do it is a total pain to always have to remove them if you want to watch a disc.
I have trimmed the bags when the discs go into box sets, its pretty much the only way to get anything to fit.

If you put the disc in the bag the correct way and you go to push them into your shelf it will push the disc back and the bag will hang out a lot.
So really this is the only option, get the sleeves and trim away when you have time.

Are you talking elephant condoms or plastic sleeve/slipcases Reino?

I don't put sleeves on titles inside a box set, they wouldn't fit.

I guess this is more about protecting the cardboard sleeve and artwork/obi.

Having open sleeves with the spine at the open end makes pulling the discs out to play easy. The Japanese crystal clear and fully sealable option gives a better presentation and full protection from moisture/etc but yes they are a pain to get titles out of for playing. Basically I have to pull the whole thing out, disc and cardboard sleeve, to play discs because the spine is displayed through the folding end (to avoid seam obscurance). I always have to be careful not to catch the cardboard on the slipcase adhesive strip.

I have my best discs sealed up in my current limited supply of sealing sleeves. Minako Honda live is one. I must have watched that a dozen times in 6 months. Still haven't caught the cardboard when removing..I guess I'm pretty careful/skillful at it now.

Anyway I'm still going full Japanese sealing sleeves in the future on all my discs. Less convenient but hermitically sealed for my far future repeated viewing pleasure.

I didn't want to mix up anybody, to me the sleeve is the paper that your disc goes into, you can also have the outer bag sleeve.

No EC here LOL
I could never get into the resealable outer bags/sleeves, whenever I had a disc in one of those I never watched it, when I put them in
regular bags I watched it, so I tossed the few I had and never use them for my collection.

Those bags will fit into the box sets, but you need to trim and turn the disc so you can pull them out from the top of the bag/sleeves.

Im moving to another state and wanted to ask, what's a good box size to fit a stack of about 15 Laserdiscs (vertically)?

Something, if possible, a rectangular shaped one and not squarish.

I just moved, some liquor boxes will actually work, I think they were cap morgan, or I may have had to cut them down a little.
