Post subject:  Making your own Boxart Covers

Not sure if this has been discussed on here - as it came into my mind recently. One of the main reasons I came into Laserdisc was how awesome the boxarts were and how unique it is compared to other media formats. Which got me thinking. While collecting for Laserdisc classic titles, what would be an interesting way to show off my existing bluray collection to coincide with my own laserdisc movie collection...and then I saw that Disney released the Gaurdians of the Galaxy collection that paid homage to the Laserdisc Sleeves.

Which got me thinking, why can't we custom make more for our own collection? I see a lot of custom Record Album shops online that allow you to upload custom works to have a personalized record album cover (which is basically a Laserdisc Sleeve).

So a quick prototype using Lindsay Lohans 2004: Mean Girls - I was actually quite pleased with the results. Obviously it wouldn't be something that could be sold as it would run into a lot of copyright issues - however for your own personal collection it would be interesting to present and not have laserdiscs on one shelf and blu ray's on another. Another issue would be how to package the discs in the sleeve itself.

EDIT: Just Tried Nutty Professor 2 : The Klumps

Any thoughts?

I love the big sleeve artwork.

There is definitely another thread on the forum where someone who was a skilled graphic designer attempted to create a number of possible laserdisc covers never officially released. I remember them looking great.

Very cool.
To me its not the front as much as the back of the sleeve, how would you do that??
But as laserdiscfan said there was a post, I don't remember if it was an entire topic or just one post.

I like the idea. Does it work on good movies?

How do you translate that into a useable sleeve? Just tape it onto a blank one??
