Besides obvious ones like THX1138 or Star Wars, there's a clip in The Lion King that was altered for DVD and subsequent releases.

The Laserdisc of Aladdin might also have unaltered lyrics for one of the songs but that's just a guess.
In Lion King, there was a star cluster in the sky that was supposed to have 9 easter egg saying SFX. People saw it and though it red SEX. That was changed for later releases.

Aladdin had some lyrics changed due to depictions of Arabs, but I believe the change took place between the Theatrical Run and the first home video release. Its on the original release of the OST though. The biggest change was when Aladdin whispered into the Tigers ear in one scene where people took as Aladdin saying something about kids taking their clothes off or something. I think that was edited for later releases.

Here's a list about changes made in Disney releases. IIRC, most restorations Disney did after the analogue era (1995 on) changed a lot of things about their films (color temps, Aspect ratios, framing, replacing original animations). The only film affected by this was Snow White. It never had a home video release before the 1994 one and it was the restoration that set the template for later ones. The films from the Disney Renascence era made it mostly unscathed since no major changes were made until their DVD releases http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Recomm ... s/id/15617

That's a lot I'll need to go through and verify.

IIRC, all the content on the CAV Criterion of Ghostbusters (CC1181L) has never appeared on any other edition of the film.

Thats great info, but content like that should be brought up more on a separatle thread. For example: Commentaries not on DVD/BD.

Thanks for posting but there are multiple issues of Wyatt Earp and it would be nice to post which one.

I know which ones but if you are publishing publicly it would be nice for others.

Also I only searched the first title Dream Lover, it would also be nice to post which versions, there are 2 US and they both say uncut but
has this been confirmed??

Lately my kid and I have been watching Lady and the Tramp, alternating between the BR and Lady and the Tramp (1955) [14673 AS]. I’d say this disc qualifies because the 4:3 version of this movie was made not by cropping or whatever but by reshooting the entire dang movie. Therefore most if not all shots are totally unique to this version of the movie and there aren’t many home video version of it...I think maybe just this one.

It’s also a very good LD overall.

I've read that the VHS release of Lady and the Tramp the same year was also sourced from the Academy Ratio version, but I don't have it to confirm.

That’s probably true. That’s probably the main reason why it was worth restoring that version so late in the game.

What about Scream? The director's cut on laserdisc with the added 20 seconds of footage that makes it rated NC-17. According to the database (10499 AS): "This unrated Director's Cut was originally going to be released on the Special Edition DVD. Disney owns Dimension films and will not release unrated/x-rated material on dvd or video."

Hello!

Could you tell in what ways these are longer/uncut?

For example, Necronomicon in all LD releases (Japan/Japan rental/USA/HK) are all 97min.

What would make the Japanese release(s) different compared to other LD releases?
Or are they ALL unrated?

Wyatt Earp is an extended cut box set that is I believe 20 minutes longer, the others I have no idea.

You're right about the Necronomicon LD releases and will take it into account next time but seeing that this and the Red Scorpion unrated versions were released on DVD, they don't make the list anymore. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, and they are almost impossible to see. In fact, I think you need CAV to see Jessica’s missing paint, and only the original CAV version is like this. You can’t see in in CLV and for sure not on VHS. Maybe with a 4 head deck? SP tapes have no useful still frame on most decks.

The other scene is like...in a very fast moving section, I can’t rememebr what it was but it’s also a still frame only thing, I think. I’m not sure. I was never an expert on this but I looked into it once.

None of this adds anything to one of the most amazing movies ever made. I would pick a decent BR with extremely small amounts of censoring to the LDs, none of which are all that great visually or sonically.
