Generally speaking, I'm not looking to add to my collection. I fix my collection size to three shelves of a built-in bookcase, otherwise I'd probably fill up the house. Those three shelves have been full since I built them, so whenever I pick up a new LD, one gets the heave-ho.

That said, I did pick up a new one recently. A friend and I saw "The Devil Rides Out" on one of our psychotronic movie nights, and I loved it so much that I tracked it down: Devil Rides Out, The: Special Edition (1968) (Uncut) [EE3384]

I also have Lost Continent, The (1968) (Uncut) [EE5678], also from the Hammer Films Collection. I'm really impressed with these Hammer LDs, the ones I've seen all look pretty great.

Hi megarat,

I agree with you completely. The Elite Entertainment Hammer Films discs are very good looking ones indeed, and great additions to your collection. I would highly recommend picking up any of them which are films you may like. They really put a great deal of care into the work
they did on this series of discs, and included some nice extras on many of them. Also, Elite Entertainment seems to have made wise decisions about where they had their discs pressed, mostly Pioneer and the Japanese plants, so no rot to worry about! I have almost all of their titles in my collection, with the exception of the no-frills CLV releases of Evil Dead and Night of the Living Dead, as well as, of course, the few cancelled titles. Elite is one of my favorites of the publishers that popped up during the latter days of the format's existence, along with The Roan Group. It's wonderful that some smaller publishers like them came along during that time to take an interest in a few of the more obscure titles which otherwise might never have seen a laserdisc release.

Best Regards,
David

Newest arrival from ebay is my "medieval lot", got four discs but it was two I was after, Knights of the Round Table (1953) [ML102164], and the widescreen Excalibur Excalibur (1981) [22030] , a film I have yet to see, been anticipating and hoping for rot free...

Also picked up IMAX The Dream Is Alive [LVD9019].

When my father bought Excalibur back in the day it played fine but over the years it started to show horrible rot on side 2, but this was the WEA pressing.
years later I bought the Pioneer pressing and it was fine.
So you could luck out with a WEA or lucked out and picked up the Pioneer.

I think its one of the best telling of the stories on film.

I finally opened the box today after a week, checked the disc and it's got pioneer mint marks

Hopefully I'll find time soon to watch the film, I believe I did catch a few minutes when it was playing on IFC one day, I remember the visual style really stood out.

Finally was able to find Star Wars: The Definitve Collection for a price I was willing to pay. Got it for 30$ and the best part, I only had to drive 5min to get it. Never thought I will find one in a acceptable condition, a good price and especially not that it would be so close :D Was my lucky day I guess

Finally got The Mind's Eye, after the seller first sent me the wrong disc entirely (Beyond the Mind's Eye) - but unlike that one, this one is definitely a rotter. It's not that severe, but it's pretty consistent throughout almost the entire disc :(

At least it's not expensive to replace when/if I do.

I'm over buying cheap titles just because it's on laser disc. Every dollar spent on title you don't really need but buy because it's cheap is another dollar you can't put towards something special.

I purchase titles that I want, doesn't matter cheap or expensive the only thing that matters for me is cosmetic condition and no rot.

Yeah, cheap is a bonus if it's something you want but I'm pretty sure Flecha just bought all those movies coz they were cheap. Most of the movies are terrible.
