I still don't get it. Why would that make it so valuable? I mean, people are asking $300 for it when the Blu-ray only costs $10 on Amazon.

The Blu-Ray price doesn't matter. People want the laserdisc because it's a laserdisc. Demand + limited supply = high price.

but 300 seems a little over the top if you ask me =)

That's why I listed mine at 39.99 on Ebay. Even i knew anything crazy like 150 was too high

People list s**t at crazy prices all the time just to see if anyone bites. The price will come down, unless someone stupid enough buys it for that much

I always take best offers on those discs. I mean you are right that some prices are to high but hey, someone wants it they will pay.

Could probably say the same thing about The Cell, decent movie, nothing to write home about. The 2 copies sold on this site last year went for $1,275 and $520.

I do think $300 is too high for South Park, even by collectible standards. I'd estimate the "real" value at somewhere less than half that.

people might list its for 200+, but it doesn't sell for that. Don't let several sellers asking high prices fool you into thinking its worth that much. These high priced south parks are not moving at those prices.

I did see Laserdisc Vault sell one for 160ish recently, so on occasion, they do sell

I sold one for 150 I think. Recently in a bundle.

I think 50 cents is too much for a South Park ld because it's just not my bag. It's only worth crazy money to someone who has to have it. That's cool though. I've had my own "have to have it" moments" that someone else could care less about.

Or just check out a Southeby's or a Christie's auction sometime.
I love antiques but would not pay diddly squat for some of the stuff people throw big money at.

Laserdiscs are a dime a dozen right now.
But it will not always be that way as time marches on.
And needless to mention,the later the release the less quantity produced.....
Those late releases are rare enough as it is now.
Guys are bashing common mass produced titles all the time but no one is gonna rag on MI III or The Limey,
among many other circa 2000 releases.
Anyone care to throw a copy of U-571,American Beauty,or even 6th Day in the garbage?
I hope not !

So to sum up ....
Value is in the eye of the beholder....
That South Park Title is collectible even if your not into that kind of genre.

No going to the mall to buy laserdiscs anymore kids...
The gig is up, the format is ten years from the end of production.....
Just be thankful that many people collect and / or speculate these precious 12" platters !!! LoL !

I didn't think South Park was THX certified......I've enjoyed owning South Park for sometime, and while it is worth something to others, I didn't like the movie enough to keep it

f**k South Park. I would like it if Cannibal the Musical was on LD though. too bad the production quality was so low that no one bothered to watch it
