Hello everyone,

Our friend accuozo was kind enough to submit a lot of scanned versions of The Videophile (here's a quick tribute here).

http://magazines.lddb.com/The.Videophile/

Mostly about non-LD matters but the "optical disc" does how up a few times and the discussion about U-matic, VHS and Betamax is already entertaining to read after so many years!

This is great stuff. Provides wonderful insight to a then-budding scene. Reminds me of that issue of a similar magazine that came with that old MTX computer I used to have, I wish I'd had the foresight to keep it. I notice the author had the foresight to mention the importance of commercials in the second issue; they may seem redundant now, but will be sought-after in the future.

What's with those blanked out segments in the editorial?

I pretty much ended up reading the first ten issues in one sitting. I knew what a big deal the legal hassle home taping caused, but I didn't know the author was involved!

Is James Lowe still in this world?
