I was wondering the same thing??
I know I've posted this before but I totally remember when you couldn't give them away at Tower Video.
They started at 59 and then went to discount at 39 and just sat there.

There is a price tag on the disc. I was wondering if anyone knew the shop. I’ve been meaning to start a thread about old shops like Dave’s Laser, Ken Crane, Laser Perceptions, Mikado Laser Japan, or whatever else.

Oh man, I thought it was a Tower Video sticker

Never heard of them.
On another note, I do remember being in CA and getting a cab or car service with my father and the driver was talking about LDs since we picked up a few on our trip
back in the day.
1991 or 1992.

I guess you could always interview me for the Mikado spot since I used to work there in the early years.

Also, we did sell a ton of those Song of the South LD's. I still have my copy.

I started a thread somewhat similar to this on where we got our LDs before DVD and the internet came along . . .

Your local source for Laserdiscs?

If no one else bids and ends in 18 hours at the current price it would be a steal!

It’s not an easy watch.%99 of the people buy it for the hype. I mean you should watch your movies if you buy them. This one is no exception you should at least start to watch but can’t guarantee you will finish it :)

Since I have watched my copy a few times I just skip through to watch the animation, that's the best part of any Disney film anyway.

I don't think Europe will take on that fight... eBay's quoting $36.50 for USPS shipping to here.

$43.99 + $5 shipping = $48.99 at the moment. I'm betting it will meet expectations as it usually does. ;)

Back in the day when I first purchased my copy, I must have watched it over 20 times because I had a lot friends and some acquaintances that wanted a copy on VHS. I found the movie to be average but still a significant piece of movie history that should be seen for the controversies it represents and learn about what not to do when making a movie. Overall, I feel it would be a watchable film for most especially if you tell people that the Splash Mountain ride @ Disneyland is partially based on the film.

I don't understand Disney. I heard they restored and made it HiDef but they won't let it be released on Blu-ray anywhere. Why bother cleaning it up, restoring and preserving the film if they aren't going to release. I know they are cultivate a certain image but seriously they have practically every major film but that out.

Haha, good to know. It just looked like one of those movies I might have watched as a kid, so I'd have to watch it to find out

Yeah. It’s actually...not a good Disney movie. If you have litterally everything else they’ve ever released then you want it but honestly it stunk. Nobody likes it. Nobody ever liked it. It was so backwards that even in the 1940s people protested it. It’s been an albatross on Disney’s neck since the day it was released.

Since it was made during what many consider the apex of Disney hardcore fans will want to see the animation because it’s as good as anything, obviously. As a movie it sucks though.

The reason why Disney made an HD version even not to release it is just them being responsible. Original negatives will only be around so long so it’s best to preserve everything you can. You can’t let history rot just because it’s unmarketable.

So true, when shopping I would always want to pickup the cheap copies at Tower back in the day, my father said don't bother its not great.

Years later I had to pay more on ebay just to "complete" the collection.
But this isn't going that cheap, it will probably hit the 60+ range and considering its listed wrong its not bad.

On another note, Thank you to Xtempo.
I was searching LD under the DVD section and did find a film I was unaware of and need to possibly pickup a copy if I can find it cheap enough.

Not going to pay 100+ on a USA disc that was in talks of being released on Bluray last year but hasn't yet.

why preserve it? If everyone hates it. from what I remembered I liked it but then I was young and impressionable.

Also I somehow stumbled across it while looking for something else.
