I actually saw Episode 2 in theaters, courtesy of my sister, as a birthday present.

To this day I don't remember having particularly strong feelings about it, and I'm positive I'm watched it at least once since then.

For a few years I had not watched 2 or 3, caught them when they were on TV.

That is a few hours I will never get back, a total let down but was aware that I was not likely to enjoy them but I did try to give them a chance.

If you groaned through 2 then please make sure you have nothing sharp close to hand if you ever sit down to watch episode 3, it really is a total piece of..... sorry can't use the most appropriate word here!

Cheers.

You guys need to lighten up a bit, ep 3 is quite funny.
Probably the worst parts of that trilogy are kid Anakin, Jar Jar and romance stuff.

But overall the prequels aren't that bad compared to some of the more recent offerings, Rogue One and Solo are good though.

I quit at Episode 2. It was way worse than 1, IMO, pretty much totally because of young Vader. "You're soft, not like like sand..." or whatever it was. Absolute CRAP movie making. Crap writing, acting, and directing. The FX weren't good enough to back it up either.

To be honest i liked Phantom Menace, but ughhh did did episode 2 kill the whole trilogy for me, thus never saw episode 3.
I recently watched the original 4,5 and 6 on LD and i had forgotten how bad jedi was with the ewoks etc.

I bought around 40 to 45 titles ( mostly PAL ) with classical music incl. opera for 30 Euro from an estate sale here in Berlin. I thought that was a steal given the amount of discs.
The titles are from such publishers as Teldec, Sony Classical or EMI Classics. Around half was manufactured by PDO UK, unfortunately, but I tested some and the audio appeared
to be intact which is most important here. The others are mostly WEA Germany ( rare pressing plant, good quality discs ), DADC Austria or Pioneer USA. Anyway I am very happy about this purchase. The sound quality on those discs is amazing. It shows how good PCM Stereo can sound if taken care of in a proper manner !

I am no longer really interested in the movie discs as I nowadays try to watch films in 4K if available, especially those that I love such as Blade Runner. However I really like collecting these music and special interests discs or rare movie titles that are unavailable on Blu Ray or even DVD. Those are really valuable in my opinion especially because they are mostly shot in the 4:3 format and can look gorgeous on laserdisc with excellent sound.

EDIT: I counted the discs. It's 63 titles in total.

Cmon man, costumed midgets are a whole lot better than a flying CGI Yoda and for the battle of Endor they built a life size AT-ST which is just bad a**. The space battle above Endor is still one of the best ever shot. Jedi has so much good stuff going on, I can't understand the hate from you and others recently about it. You know the ground battle for Endor is so much better presented than the battle in Rogue One, which could have been great. Instead of having a bad a** jungle battle they go from box to box and line up and shoot at each other like a combination of a game of paintball and an episode of Transfomers. So bad.

Definitely a steal when it's under $1 a disc. Or Euro in this case. :D

I haven't seen episode 2 in years so I can't really make an objective observation on it, but isn't there a possibility that all the cheesy lines in the romance scenes are deliberate? I mean, consider Anakin's upbringing, first as a slave and then with all the weird Jedi code that scorn having emotional attachments, and Padme probably projecting some sort of a saviour complex on him.

Picked up a Japanese copy of Ewoks: Caravan of Courage, finally found one at a price I felt was reasonable ~$20

Now if I can only find Battle for Endor for a similar price.

Bah, I've been looking for that one! Ebay sellers want way too much money for it.

Battle for Endor looks terrific on LD btw, particularly the outdoor scenes.

That is a steal, but I doubt you're robbing anything more than a trash compactor.
Great score.

Likewise Pokefraker, those Ewok side stories are pretty good and only rise in estimation the longer the series is drawn out.

For me, All the Vermeers in New York, a film that hadn't crossed my mind in ages and turned out to be exactly what I wanted and would recommend to others except that I can't put my finger on why. This is probably putting my foot in it, but let's call it like Kieslowski with greater tranquility and embrace of the mundane.
Also Rapa Nui, a very uneven yet very attractive fantasy narrative about the waning days of undiscovered Easter Island. Pretty solid image for a 2:35 LD too.

Just got this bunch.

Image

Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man I actually only saw in the last year, through a bootleg Lebanese(!) VHS tape. Found it in the donation lot at the recycler so I gave it a watch; thought it was a reasonably interesting mixed genre movie, much like Streets of Fire (and Highlander 2). Universal Soldier I haven't seen since the '90s, and Raw Deal never.
