Yep. No update from my side as unfortunately I still can't get a fabricator to get all of the required, or alternative parts. It is proving to be a real struggle to get this sorted.

If we can find a decent fabricator that can get all of the components and for a fair bulk-buy price then this will be a go. Still stuck in limbo for now, sorry all.

Well, someone was recently able to partially capture and demodulate the RF envelope of a VHS cassette. So maybe as this develops further there will be enough interest for a mass produced Domesday Duplicator.

Me too! I'd love to get into this but would prefer to do so with assembled boards first as a working starting point!

Does anyone know of another potential source for these? I’d like to try a test capture with a VHS tape. Someone on the Freenode IRC channel said there’s a waiting list but he wasn’t sure who was putting it together.

Edit: I decided to go with a CX23880 based capture card and cxadc instead. Can't beat 10 bucks! I've since seen some example decodes using this which looks as good as VHS is going to look. Heck, even LaserDisc captures look incredibly good at 28.6MSPS!

I'd also be interested in an assembled board, as long as the price remains reasonable.

No sorry. I canned the idea as getting the parts is a nightmare.

I hope the guys behind the project put up a Kickstarter or similar for pre made boards. I would love to get one.
