I had Little Shop of Horrors, Beetlejuice & Lost Boys as older pressings & they played perfect i just couldnt resist buying the last pressings of these made in 1998. Anyone else buy multiple pressing even though the other one played perfect?

not yet but im thinkng about getting all the THX star wars discs AND the Fox discs just because i love the covers on the fox discs

Yes I am affraid to say that I purchased muliple pressings of a number of titles, I suppose it may have something to do with it possibly being an investment, or I just fealt like it because it was like the excitement of purchasing it the first time around, trying to make sure that if one of them rots, then the other will be ok ect. .ect . . .LOL

A mixture of all of the above I guess ''and then some.''

I used to purchase the Dolby Digital and the DTS versions of the same title and the specials and still have them. . . . no regrets at all.

I suppose i'm a bit of a completist.

Yeah, I do want to get the later releases with the hopes that they are better transfers and whatnot. Like:

The Ten Commandments
Rosemary's Baby
Marathon Man
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

There are probably a lot more that I can't think of right now.

Josey Wales AC-3 has the same cover as the pressing before so be careful, i have Caddyshack 19th Anniversary the sky back grounds are somewhat grainy but its not the disc as the interviews are clear.

but the earlier excalibur has a freakin GORGEOUS cover to it!

I'm currently buying newer/different discs to see if the transfers are better. I'm more of a perfectionist than a completist I guess.

Your Welcome for this thread, i have both Beetlejuice & Shop of Horrors in AC-3 & just bought The Lost Boys last pressing even though the other one played perfect but it was 1:85 and the new one is supposed to be 2:35.

I have gone to the extreme on this concept. I have copies of all the Star Wars films from the US, Japan, UK, Germany & France with several from Italy and The Netherlands. I have every version of every James Bond movie issued in the US and Japan. And even in those, I have multiple versions - for example, I have the 20th Century Fox artwork version of "Star Wars", but in the original CLV encode and the repressing in CAA. The "Star Wars - Faces" set, first from Pioneer and then Kuraray. The original Pioneer USA pressing of Star Wars and Empire in CAV, and the later Japanese repressings.

In all I have 24 version of "A New Hope", 23 versions of "Empire", 21 versions of "Jedi", 15 versions of "The Sound of Music", 10 of "My Fair Lady", 14 versions of "Goldfinger", 7 versions of "Ghostbusters". You get the idea.

Yes, I too have multiple releases of many titles. Among them, I have several of the titles mentioned here in this thread. I have both old and new releases of Brainstorm, The Lost Boys, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Rosemary's Baby, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. The only one of these which has rot is the earlier pressing of Brainstorm. Most of the earlier releases are ones I bought long before the later releases were done, i.e. I have had most of them for MANY years. In fact, the older pressing of Journey to the Center of the Earth was one of the first discs I ever bought. I got it used from a guy who worked in the shop where I bought my first player in 1987! The last time I looked at it, it still played fine! In general, I avoid the earlier pressings because of the greater rot risk, and because I want the best release available of the title. I want letterboxed, digital sound, remastered editions, etc. whenever they are available. One example mentioned here is Marathon Man. I had numerous chances to buy the earlier pressing of it, but avoided doing so and held out for the later letterboxed edition. I will always do this, unless I know that the later release is a serious laser rot risk (read: Sony DADC USA!) Well, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Blam1 you have me out numbered. I have several My Fair Ladys the AC-3 & boxset the hub labels are peeling off the discs in the box set & josey wales the letterboxed first pressing had laser rot so i threw that away & was happy when they made the last AC-3 pressing. I have the last Bonds ever pressed by Image before they stopped & 3 japan ones Live Twice,Eyes Only & View to a Kill.
