How do you guys go about this?
I have never seen a resurfacing machine, they are always CD/DVD/Bluray size.
I typically just spray and clean my LD's before watching them if they are new to me and covered in fingerprints, etc. You would be amazed at the grime that comes off some of these discs.
I was wondering if their might be a spray, like a car way almost, that you could apply to scratched discs and it would fill in the scratches as you buff it off with a soft cloth.
Anyone come up with any solutions? Obviously if a disc is too deeply scratched it cant be saved, but i have found LD's to be much heartier and with a thicker layer of protection than most DVDs.
Thanks and excited to see what you all think and/or have done!

Otherwise you will damage the disc just because you can't stand the look of said disc. Novus is on ebay and anywhere, do a google search and stop being safe Rick Dangerous.........

I've had some pretty screwed up discs that play just fine like they don't have a single scratch on them.
They must have done a much thicker coating on LD's than most discs (which would make sense given the size of the media.) There’s no coating at all. There’s just...disc. The clear section is massively thicker than any other media and they are two discs glued back to back so to hit the reflective layer you’d have different dig *really* deep, but that’s irrelevant really. The reason why LDs usually play is because back when you had to pay for s**t, $30-150 for a single movie and $800 for a year of a TV series you didn’t leave it on the floor of your car. I have no idea how many scratches it takes to ruin an LD because I’ve never done it and I never will.

My favorite is...CD-R fresh out of the machine, labels it with ball point pen, hands it to me already ruined and never once read.
I’ve actually witnessed this twice in my life. “Caveman chisels name into data layer of optical media with miniature stainless steel ball.” Some people have zero mechanical aptitude. Where any normal modern human can literally hear the machine screaming for mercy they just say, “Oh, it always does that.” Yeah, it always does that and CD-Rs are supposed to shed little metallic flecks as you write on them too...

I've seen plenty of idiots over the years that are convinced the data is nowhere near the label side. "It's the other side that you don't want to damage"

jakeheke wrote: Whats everyones recommendations for a generally grubby discs? Tempted to use a slighty damp microfibre cloth and let disc dry? What is “grub”? Do you mean dirt? If it’s actual filth then Windex and dish soap work perfectly fine. As long as you don’t saturate the label or scrub too hard on the glue joint you can use as wet of a towel as you want. It’s a monolithic piece of plastic.
