I know that the default LD's had a mirrored Silver finish, and the smaller LD's were Yellowish but aside from those and the red/purple coloring of the RLV discs what movies besides Evil Dead 2[EE3845] have a colored variant? |

Its actually clear, the red and yellow or gold ones are the plastic. I don't think any LDs were actually made gold like the MFSL CDs but I no longer own the 1 gold LD I ever had. The red one was the color of the plastic not the inside, I remember when I did own that too. |

I’m pretty sure that red Evil Dead is the only LD colored like that ever to be released worldwide. |

Someone mentioned a long time ago that there could have been a limited run of an horror movie with green plastic. But I've never seen one... Julien |

Julien I've been trying to find more information on this since I made the thread, I know it's been mentioned that the Green Laserdisc is Toxic Avenger, The: Unrated Director's Cut (1985) (Uncut) [TRO-7000], but here's some proof that it was at least planned for production, still no evidence of the disc itself. The color is listed as Yellow on the database entry, which isn't that common for a US release, so it's likely they just made it yellow because it was easier. Does anyone have a Yellow PAL or Japanese Rental LD and this Toxic Avenger release to compare the colors? |

Yellow started in the Europe with the second release of LaserDisc - the original thought was to make the "Digital Audio" disc yellow to show they were different from the early analog audio discs. Japan used yellow discs to identify discs issued to the rental market. I don't know if this was to discourage disc swapping or just to make them 'different'. The 5" CDV disc with audio were yellow. CDV discs without audio were silver and classified "Video Singles". Even Dead 2 is the only red disc. It does not play in HeNe Laser tube players (632nm) as the red color cancels out the beam. The red laser in the HLD-X9 player (670nm) has no issue. I've never seen a 'green' disc. But I suspect they could have made black discs - as they did with CDs. |

I think Japanese LDs that were designated as "LASERDISC RENTAL" were all gold-colored discs. |

Alright folks, we now have confirmation thanks to Robert Bortignon on Laserdisc Forever, Toxic Avenger IS NOT just yellow, it's a golder color with a green tint to it. Nice to finally have this settled! |

Julien I've changed the image hosting over to Imgur, I figured Discord would work but I guess not. I've attached the two files to this reply as well if that's still not working, thanks for the heads up Julian.
