Why not simply enter that list in your collection on this website? (it's empty now: https://www.lddb.com/account/jesuslovesgood) Skipping Manual/Excel/File handling of collections is kind of the reason I started LDDb... Julien

Probably these two? 3D Soft [U-ROMAM] [SAV970701]Japanese Railroad Constitution [MRLZ-91003]I've no idea on Laserdisc rarity to be honest. Though for more mainstream titles I wouldn't be too in to it. Unless there is a compelling reason, e.g. unavailable on a better format, a unique soundtrack, commentary, extras, uncut etc then I'd just get the DVD or better.

cplusplus wrote: I know rarity != value, but if you have this specific release, it just sold for $300 on eBay: Lost Boys, The (1987) [16071] I would be selling that puppy yesterday. I can't believe these people who are spending stupid money on this format now, I love LDs but C'mon 300 for lost boys what is going on and it wasn't even signed or anything stupid. I do love it though because if or when I have something I can cash in and get the upgraded DVD or Bluray for under 10 bucks. DVDs are starting to go high btw, seen some stupid stuff its just not as easy when you find some obscure DVD its hit or miss. But they still have high priced horror DVDs.

jesuslovesgood wrote: The so called rare lost boys laserdisc isn't even as good as the other widescreen version because the other widescreen version has a benefit of showing more of the top and bottom. Maybe a little less of the right and left of the screen…. Just assuming you see more image doesn’t makes it a better version of the film; that’s a big misnomer A lot of times, a director will choose to have a “soft matte” done while filming so he/she can later choose how they want to compose the film for a widescreen theater presentation or one for TV (4:3 ratio). James Cameron was well known for doing this with T2 in which he released both a widescreen and variable pan & scan version. If I had a choice, I would always choose to watch the widescreen version even if there might be less picture. As for the T2 pan & scan version, you will get a combination of less and more picture depending on how he wanted a shot composed. You can search the internet for a comparison of the two versions side by side. As for The Lost Boys, the version mentioned by CPlusplus is probably valuable because it was a late release remastered version with AC3 and very few were probably pressed. Similar to why The Matrix gets a lot of buzz.

jesuslovesgood wrote: AC3 can suck it. Since both of your players are incapable of accessing AC3, you really can't judge it one way or another. It's true that there are some very terrible AC3 mixes like "The Idolmaker" which is encoded in 4.0 instead of 5.1 and just sounds flat vs. its very robust PCM track that just comes alive w/ tight bass and a decent surround mix w/ Pro-Logic. However, the bulk of AC3 titles will sound incredibly dynamic & spacious in the surrounds on a level that two channel PCM w/ Pro-Logic processing could ever hope to match. jesuslovesgood wrote: I'll take my Mash chip built into my LX-900 any day of the week since most laserdiscs don't even have AC3. Ok jesuslovesgood wrote: How many of your Pioneers have the great audio of a Mash chip? Oh that's right only Panasonic LX-900 has the Mash chip magic going on. I have at least two that would hold up well against an LX-900; my CLD-3030 and CLD-3070 w/ 4x oversampling and 16/18 bit DA converters Sure...MASH is definitely one of the better "1bit" DA Converter designs and I believe it does sound better than Pioneer's equivalent 1bit DLC DA's (depending on the model as higher end Pioneer units will have more sophisticated variations of their 1bit design). Regardless, you put the LX-900 up against any player w/ a multi bit DAC (especially the blue collar level Pioneer, CLD-3080 with its 8x oversampling, 20bit DA converters) it will blow it away easily in respect to sonic warmth and smoothness.

I guess my Runco LJR II sucks because even though it's an upgraded LX-900 under the hood, it doesn't have a built in DAC (it's only a transport)? I'll just have to weep and send the digital audio from the LD player to the 24-bit DAC in my Pioneer VSX-92TXH receiver and decry my not having a 1-bit MASH DAC in my Runco . . .

Same. I also have a near perfect Fugitive copy. My rarest LD is probably Antz, or Beatles: Let it Be, however the latter seems to pop up quite a bit more often. I also have Beloved with Oprah and Danny Glover that's in even fewer collections.
