Had to finally pull the trigger on this as i wont be buying the "big box" :

-Star Wars Special Edition boxset

Bought it "locally" so shipping is way less than from abroad.

My guess is that it was packed in a flat cardboard wrap instead of an LP mailer?

If so, that’s why I ask all sellers I buy from to ensure it’s packed properly.

Mask of Zorro, it's not hugely valuable, but it's not a super common release either. It's a late 1998 release. I only paid 5.90 plus 3.45 shipping for it, which I guess was a lowball on the seller's part. He packed it in a pretty thin cardboard container with cardboard wrap over it.

I bought a copy of Babe: Pig in the City that arrived like that. (I’m a massive fan of the first.) It was sealed though in my case so honestly the crack could have happened a decade earlier for all I know.

I eventually got another copy and determined I didn’t like the movie even slightly, I sort of wish I knew that from the beginning...

Ouch!

Very disappointing when an LD arrives like that.

Had three arrive in a similar sorry state over fifteen or so years & they were all poorly packed. Perhaps not a bad fail rate but so preventable & one was a French F1 LD release that I have not seen since. Not so called valuable or sought after as such but to me it was a bit of a pisser, hopefully another will turn up but it was twelve years ago - I don't mind playing the waiting game but that one still irks me.

Hope another turns up for you soon.

Cheers

Bought two Mifune classics "Samurai Assassin" & "Incident at Blood Pass"

Been collecting vintage Samurai films this past few years.
Big fan of the original Zatoichi : The Blind Samurai series....

Cheers.

P.S. : Damn shame, people should pack better.
Please note, even if insured, if substandard care is taken packaging, then insurance claim will not be honoured by postal service.
Insurance claims are only honoured when reasonable packaging/padding is in place for precious cargo.

I received the Toy Story CAV boxset edition on Saturday. Finally almost 3 weeks after I ordered it. I paid just $17.99 for it besides shipping, it took a whole week to ship out however. It's gotta be easily one of the top 10 LD releases of all time. The packaging, the quality, the extras, everything is top notch. I love that the extras section layout is essentially a DVD menu before DVD menus were a thing.

Keep looking. There are a LOT of extremely impressive LD box sets.

Just picked up 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Archive Collection [1587 CS]. Two disc gatefold in almost perfect condition. It's the first LD I have bought in a while. The packaging reminds me just how nice LDs are.

@darthmaul26 - bummer on the shipping disaster. I always worry about damage but have been fortunate so far and not had anything arrive destroyed like that.

Yeah, that Brazil box was an absolutely amazing release. It finally brought together a movie we knew was better for the first time...and they threw the garbage cut on there as well. :) The extras are worth many hours of enjoyment and of course it’s very physically impressive. It’s a favorite movie of mine, as well as Kafka (1991) Max Headroom, Dark City, etc, all that bleak ish.

Received a replacement Zorro today (shipped from my state). The jacket is in slightly worse condition but thankfully the discs are spotless.

I purchased an allegedly rot-free Eraser, and a probably rotted to an extent Air Force One (though I'm open to being wrong). Also bought The Abyss Special edition boxset for fairly cheap (I've never had this one, I know).

The only Eraser that is save to purchase is the Japanese one. And the good thing is it also has AC3.

I'm a bit torn, I got an offer for a copy of Starship Troopers for $13, but I asked the seller if it's tested and he acknowledged that it isn't. Sigh.

Edit: I caved in, but I'll be ticked if I paid that price and it has worse than mild rot.
