After waiting forever for a BD or a 4K release (that was teased.... 2 years ago?), I decided to go Kuraray Extended SuperNTSC Widescreen THX AC3 on The Abyss. => Abyss, The: Extended Version (1989) [0896885]Last viewing was probably 20+ years ago! Julien

Two discs arrived. First up is the AC3 version of Patlabor. I have no urgent need for it except that I've had the AC3 version of Patlabor 2 for years and it bugged me not having both. I've been looking for a sensibly priced copy for a couple of years now and finally got one. No point paying over the odds when the Blu Ray box set is the definitive edition. Next up is Vugeihihdibidjdjnmmmmzvxvjkkdk. This is not on LDDB and I would like to add it to the database. Can anyone translate the title please? Bought it on a whim as it looks super cute.

When teddanson asked, "Can anyone translate the title please?"
The reply from rein-o was, "kiki and lala blue bird".
However the entry went in as, "Kiki and Lala's Blue Bird".
They aren't the same.

They aren't the same. Well sorry to bash but you're getting a little too nitpicky. The title in Japanese is: キキとララの青い鳥 Characters for キ is spoken in English as KI character for ラ is spoken in English as LA Thus KIKI LALA but when you search this title in Japanese its as LALA but when you search Kiki and Lala it comes up as Lara. Thus changing the name from LALA to LARA so which is truly correct. It should be LALA as that's how it would be pronounced in Japanese. I think Kiki and Lala's blue bird may not even be correct as you have the の character and also the い but that い is in between the Kanji so what does that make out??? Also I found another title for this as KIKI and LALA the blue bird of happiness so which is the real title??? I don't remember much of my Japanese reading from years ago but its not an easy thing to say the least but it comes out as Kiki and Lara's blue bird in Japanese google translation.

I don't mean to be picky, but it just looks wrong to me.
Looking at the picture you sent, it appears the Kiki & Lala parts are separated from the rest of the characters on the cover and the OBI. They're smaller and that makes me think the intent is "Kiki & Lala" are like a brand. Similar to having a Pokemon logo as a brand.
Perhaps the movie/episode is called simply "The Bluebird" or "The Bluebird of Happiness".
Of course, I noticed there's another laserdisc entitled "Kiki's Delivery Service" in English, so I could be totally wrong.

The い in 青い鳥 is making an adjective out of 青. 青 = "ao", blue 青い = "aoi", blue as an adjective 鳥 = "tori", bird 青い鳥 = "aoi tori", lit. "blue bird," jisho.org more specifically defines it as "bluebird of happiness" phrankenstign wrote: Of course, I noticed there's another laserdisc entitled "Kiki's Delivery Service" in English, so I could be totally wrong. Different Kiki. phrankenstign wrote: Looking at the picture you sent, it appears the Kiki & Lala parts are separated from the rest of the characters on the cover and the OBI. Perhaps the movie/episode is called simply "The Bluebird" or "The Bluebird of Happiness". You can tell from the の at the end of the first part of the title that the two parts are connected: キキとララの is incomplete by itself. の "no" is a possessive particle here, so "Kiki and Lala's Blue Bird" checks out. Anyway, when in doubt I just check what names Anime News Network's encyclopedia has for a given title: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1789

I got Devil's Advocate today. Amazed it arrived safely considering it was shipped in a supermarket bag. As you can see it has the legal warning message sticker on the front about the statue. I thought it may be a late release after the court case thing and have scenes removed as well as the digital censoring of the statue. Span the discs tonight and checked over all the scenes. It's all 100% intact. Saved a fortune over the ridiculous DVD prices and got a juicy AC3 track to boot! Very happy to have it uncensored, seeing as it will likely never be released this way again. Noel's Fantastic Trip (1983) [AH007-2510]This one is trippyer, should be able to find a copy cheap, I think I picked up my copy for 10 plus shipping but it does have some slight rot but well worth it, watched it a few times.
