I bought from the shop here for the first time. A seemingly rot-free Starship Troopers, since there are no more on Ebay that aren't ridiculously priced. If I have a good experience I may just use this site when possible going forward, I'm getting tired of Ebay seller shenanigans.

Of the shops here... I've had nothing but great experiences with G and J Rarities and mikeystoyz. One USPS issue with a Laser Blazer shipment (out of many lol) that was promptly remedied. I would highly recommend all three.

G and J is the shop I’ve used most probably, not a single issue ever.

What's really odd/sad is that I've sold a bunch of discs on ebay and none have been posted here.
Lddb needs more advertisement.

What did you get? Been awhile since I browsed. I usually like to wait for a seller that is dumping a bunch at once.

I mostly shop on ebay, granted nearly all the ones I've bought there came from Japan.

And sometimes on Mandarake, which is also in Japan.

What can I say? I'll tell you what I can't say, and I can't say "no" to those shipping rates.

I'm waiting for it in the mail, its an anime that I was cheap on when someone had it listed for 3 years, even had my wife send offers on her account but they
eventually sold it for around 40 or 50.
Then this person had it listed for the past few months, when I sent an offer on my account I saw that it said in the email there was one person watching,
and that was me

So they finally caved and took my offer, very excited to get it, may not be worth much but very excited.
Will have to post a pic as i've been hunting for the obscure OVA stuff, or as the one is listed on the cover OAV Original Animation Video HAHAHA

May have a few to sell but probably not just picking up and enjoying now that I just finished my last room of plastering and painting

Amazingly quick DHL Express delivery door-to-door and not that expensive.

Some stuff from Japan arrived today. Bit of a mixed bag both in content and condition. Two of the discs are sadly cracked. A first for me ordering from Japan. Bitterly disappointed too as they are not easy/cheap titles. I've lodged a complaint so hopefully something good will come of it. A refund and another hunt at the least I hope.

First up. Here it is.......The almighty......The brilliant....The soopoyb! MASAYOSHI TAKANA GUITAR FANTASIA......................DIGITAL EDITION!

......and it has a very small crack on the edge of the disc. GUTTED. I was searching for this for MONTHS (just ask Mr. GB!). The crack is very small but it is there nonetheless. I don't know if I should risk playing it for fear of destroying my Laserdisc players. Such a tricky disc to find too.

Next up is Brian Tilsley's Monday Evening. This purchase is entirely Julien's fault. I have nothing further to add.

Image

This is the brilliant Lady Battle Cop. Oh and it's got a whopper crack on Side 2 rendering it unplayable. Great.

This is Video Drug Vol 3. This is all pokefraker's fault.

This is, err, I forget the name. It's a sequel to the film I also forget the name of. Anyway, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's some kind of smutty powerwank fiesta. It's not. It appears to be a film in the vein of The Joy Of Torture and The Joy Of Torture II: Oxen Split Torturing. Both of these films I forget the name of are available over on Jeff's video rental service in HD, in Japan only. I had a look at the trailers before buying the Laserdisc as I wanted to be sure it was one of those gory splatter films and not the Japanese powerwank version of Knave or Razzle.

I want to see if there are any differences between the Laserdisc and HD versions. Also there's some superb gore effects that await in these if the trailers are anything to go by on Jeff's website. I'm torn over if these will be better than Oxen Split Torturing (pun intended). That film will take some beating though (pun intended).

How bad is the crack, I have 2 discs with chip/cracks on the edges and they play fine, they are rare anime and I will always play them.
The crack that I have is about 2-3mm and its not a big deal, DO IT.

The crack on Lady Battle Cop is about a 7cm semi circle crack on Side 2. The crack on Guitar Fantasia is maybe 2cm right at the edge of the disc.

Knowing my luck I'd wreck my players so don't think I'll risk it.

EDIT: Just gave the Guitar Fantasia disc a triple check. The crack is tiny and better still, Side 2 is blank anyway.

I have the.disc spinning right now and it's a dream. So happy to have the 1991 Digital and 1983 Analogue discs together.

This concert disc is one.of my favourite stumbles ever. It's too good for words. The digital audio disc is bloody hard to find though. Could have been a long time before it came up again (sorry laserfanhldgb!).

Oh no what an absolutely sickener and especially so regarding the Guitar Fantasia LD Ted

If it’s a very small crack on the outer edge there’s hopefully a decent chance it’s still safe to play, then again if your going to risk it I’m sure it will be initially with the 925....my fingers are crossed for you mate!

My last anime haul from Japan gutted me as one that I was really looking forward to getting has a crack and it actually messes up playback
but luckily its only credits on one side and trailers on the other.

Watching that anime is more important than not watching it and was totally worth the risk.
Just a shame as in Japan it was selling for over 150 and I picked it up for 20 not counting fees.

It's spinning now as I type this! So happy as you know what a pain in the arse this disc was to find. May be a while.before it shows up again but I'll keep a look out for you. The analogue one is still popping up from time to time but it sells fairly quickly so you need to jump on it when it appears if possible.

Meant to watch only 5 mins of it but now I'm watching the whole thing haha! I'll put a review up later if anyone is interested.

Gutted about Lady Battle Cop as I love that film. I'll have to source another some day or just get the DVD.

Really pleased its playing ok for you after all the trouble trying to locate it in the first place Ted. Getting a bit worrying now as far as shipping from JPN is concerned and what with rein-o have recently experienced similar too - hopefully it’s no more than a coincidence, I’m still at 100% for now at least!

I don't believe it! I just got a rot-free copy of Starship Troopers. I played all sides. There's a litte bit on side 4 with the extra features, but whatever. The main movie is all clean. Picture quality is actually really good, one of my better looking discs.

Arrived fully intact! I put the discs in the jacket of the one that was broken since it's in better condition (left). Will spin it this evening to see if it's actually rot-free.

Edit: side 1 and the start of side 2 have some light speckling (not distracting at all), sides 3 and 4 are pretty much clean as a whistle.
