New arrivals. Haven’t watched those beauties in almost two decades.

Remember all those times we told each other to never buy sealed discs, because they've never been play tested so you'll really have no idea what you're getting? Anyway, here's a lot of sealed discs I bought.

Anyway, here's a lot of sealed discs I bought. For me this rule only applies if you can actually contact the seller, as we know most of these Japanese sellers don't even own an LD player so you take the risk even if opened. The 2nd rule is if its stupid expensive, you want to make sure its not cracked or damaged. I recently bought a disc a few months ago and asked the seller to open first to save on shipping if it was damaged so they would be able to refund me, but they sent it sealed anyway and it was fine with no damage. |

I guess that's fair; these definitely weren't expensive, and since I got them shipped with a bunch of other tat, it's not like I lost much in the way of shipping either. That is, if any of them turn out to be a dud. I've only had time to watch Empire of the Sun so far and that one didn't have any major issues. |

If a seller demands a premium for a disc just because it's sealed te seller can go boil his/her head. Because I am not purchasing laserdiscs for display purposes but to actually watch them. |

Yeah, “sealed” is a bigger deal with western sellers since Americans can’t manufacture or even store discs as well as the Japan side. It just means “blind buy” on eBay. |

I guess I will just go boil my head..... Last I heard, people open sealed discs to play them. Going out on a limb here.... Perhaps I am the only one on the planet that likes platters pristine. No hairlines, fingerprints, scratches, scuffs, dorito dust, or cheeto frags ...... a common finding with used platters. Only way your getting an immaculate LD platters is via sealed / unopened jacket. Of course unless house is a hermetic dust free lab environment and/ or disc originated in the holy isles of the Japans. Still, had a fair share of scuffed up titles from Japan, though not the norm to be certain. Sold hundreds of unopened titles. Never a complaint. Always a compliment. Different strokes for different folks. Cheers to the membership |

I just realized, Godzilla is at least a little bit personally significant to me since it was the first time I ever saw or even heard of laserdisc; I distinctly remember a guy playing a clip or a trailer of the movie off the big shiny disc at a trade show when I was little. It definitely grabbed my attention then. |

This reminds me and I don't know if I posted this before. Remember walking up to the flat iron building when growing up in NYC and was near the filming of that scene. It was dark and they were just shooting buildings, can't remember all as it was pretty boring since its a CGI godzilla and she wasn't there. |

Got these from a local video game store. He was charging way too much, but I could tell they were hurting from the shutdowns, so I didn't mind being overcharged that much. |

However after processing thousands of LDs can we both suffice to agree that a low percentage of the populace spends or spent time polishing platters ? Especially if their only interest is / was dumping them figuratively and literally. I shudder to think how much time I have spent polishing. By choice mind you. I take pride in my collection and deal in quality items. Even the copies of ET got a once over before posting. So odds are high your not going to find pristine unless opening a sealed / new title. Just my experience. And I would bet on it.... May take practice, however boiling my head still appears on the menu - Cheers |

I think Starship Troopers was a stronger novel but Stranger was good, better than puppet masters and I think I read another of his works but can't remember now. Guess I have to finish up some more film stuff before I go back to serious books |

For Christmas, my wife got me a copy of In The Heat Of The Night. I Had this movie on VHS a while back, but I am very glad to replace it with the LaserDisc. It was a very nice surprise for Christmas. |
