Watched this Friday the 13th for the first time on this disc.
Mentioning Manhattan is false advertising.

I purchased some LDs for the first time in awhile from Japan via proxy. Slayers Gorgeous, Slayers Excellent and Slayers Book of Spells. The last two being box sets. Looking forward to getting them.

Touch: TV Series Laserdisc Collection [KELD-1001~26] Got this in today, and lo and behold, Julien just added it to the database yesterday! Hope a free weekend comes up soon so I can upload covers (just the box to start; it's a whopping 26 discs in here (with gorgeous cover art for each)).

I have a weakness for all things baseball, and Mitsuru Adachi's my favorite manga artist, so I think it was only a matter of time until I added Touch to the LD collection. And I think my Japanese is getting to the point where a subtitle-less re-watch makes sense.

Also got Touch: Miss Lonely Yesterday (1998) [VPLY-70719] in the same auction. I'm automatically suspicious of anime-original sequels to manga adaptations, but I'll give it a try.

Touch is one of my all time favorites. Such a ride and yeah the art is sublime.

It had to be absolutely brutal to ship a 13 LD set. I got a quote for 2 3 LD sets together and I'm thinking I will buy some more and surface mail it all...

Believe me it doesn't get any cheaper.
I try to stay away for box sets or sets in general and just focus on single discs if I do get any.

I ended up contacting them because I thought it seemed too high. Shipping went down like 5000 yen after they adjusted something.

As for me...

Finally found a complete/mint Prince: and the NPG: 3 Chains O' Gold (1994) [WPLR-5] on YAJ.

That was the last Prince LD to make my collection complete:

They show up less and less often for sale now, took me a few years!

Gypsy, you changed your pic and I didn't notice
You know the ins and outs of international shipping, its a hassle as we both know.
I've been sitting with these 6 discs in my cart for the past month but the shipping will cost the same as the discs from this seller, ugh.

Yeah in my orders I try to optimize as best I can and grab things to sell to recoup funds.

This was $62 to ship. The games basically added nothing to the shipping cost.

Did not pay the hundred dollar range this ld is going for on ebay. Won it on an auction for 24 or 25 bucks and shipping and taxes pushed this up to around $31. No on else fought me for it. I bought for what seller would take least amount for. This just came in the mail and I have not tested it for rot. I don't think I own any Vestron Laserdiscs with rot. I think they are usually reliable laserdiscs. I hope I didn't jinx that.

Without spoiling this movie for those that have not seen it. This is basically Friday the 13th style slasher. It's story is nothing special but you don't watch slashers for the great stories. You watch them for the great kills. This movie has a lot of great kills and some of the kills are even fairly long compared to Friday the 13th. Friday 13th kills were generally quick kills. Apparently this got a sequel that is soon to be released but it kind of looks more like a parody of the original even if they brought some of the cast back. I'm basing that off the trailer to The Mutilator 2 2023.

Seems to have mild black line rot at the beginning of the movie but I think it fixes up but can't confirm because I'm currently capturing the film as I type this. Doesn't bother me. Mild to light rot isn't bad especially if it goes away. We all know this format has it's flaws. I am assuming black lines that pop up real quick would be categorize as some type of rot? People selling this movie in the hundred range better be able to test the movie otherwise someone out there will be disappointed if their copy also has some rot but the rot is so light that it doesn't bother me. Though I haven't sat through the entire movie to see if it's persistent or not.

This beauty is finally in my collection. Jacket has some slight damage in the left low corner. But most of it's already repaired and the discs are in perfect condition. Happy days.

I got Temple of Doom and Last Crusade Hong Kong Laserdisc releases. I haven't watched them yet, i think they are Cantonese hardsubbed and English audio in pan and scan format.

I also got Bubblegum Crash volume 1 Illegal Army with no OBI. Japanese edition. I do have the US release and always found the video transfer wanting.

I also just bought and don't have in my hands yet Temple of Doom Korean Laserdisc.

This one is a bit weird – two discs of photos of buildings, 59,000 yen when new (about 400 usd). Not sure why it was seen as preferable to have this database on disc rather than in books where they could have been far higher res.

One use-case is that you could put it on a TV for a whole classroom to look at without needing a bunch of copies of the book.

Did it come with a booklet with scannable barcodes for navigation?

I have a feeling this is more for an architect's office rather than a classroom - there isn't really very much to learn from these low res building pics. There's no booklet, I think the navigation info is on the disk itself. Perhaps it felt a bit high tech to show clients a info on a screen?

The last one I've currently got in is The Rugrats Movie. This is a movie I used to watch a ton as a kid, and thought it would be neat to own on the format. I did end up paying 60$ for it, which is expensive for a single movie, but listings for it don't pop up too often, and in the end, the Disc and Sleeve were in basically pristine shape, so I'd say it was worth the cash I paid for it.
