I have heard about very late LD's releases (2004), but never encountered them. Also I always thought these late releases were 8" discs. Now Julien has been adding a lot of Karaoke releases over the last days (thanks ), I was quite surprised to see : Teichiku Laser Karaoke: vol.279 [30LV-279] It's a 18/03/2004 release, 12" with 2 sides and 28 tracks, would be interesting to see which factory still manufactured this late. Anyone has such discs in their collection or a picture available ? Br, Edwin |

Anyone has such discs in their collection or a picture available ? I had to double check the 8" vs. 12" but 14 songs of 4~5 minutes is really a full 1h CLV side. First batch would seem to have started in 1982 with Teichiku Laser Karaoke: vol. 1 [30LV-1]. It might be the longest running LD collection ever! The next series I added were the 01DK-XXX and these are 8" also from Teichiku. Most recent known/confirmed is Utaemon: vol.370 [01DK-370] (1999). Julien |

They probably release thousands of Karaoke titles to feed all the Karaoke business in Japan in the 80's and 90's. Tons of releases that are not listed on LDDb.com -- but also have very little interest to 99.999% if the people. https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search/search?p=%E3%83%86%E3%82%A4%E3%83%81%E3%82%AF&auccat=2084005202&va=%E3%83%86%E3%82%A4%E3%83%81%E3%82%AF&exflg=1&b=201&n=100&mode=1&rc_ng=1 Did the same on VHD, then DVD, etc. Probably running on NAS/cloud now. As long as you can skip/seek chapters, they were in business. VHS was ill-fitted for Karaoke business. Julien |
