This clip on youtube does an excellent job at showing the manufacturing process from start to finish in a series of Pioneer facilities in Japan: I'd love to know where all that equipment ended up. |

Sony DADC needed a law suit over how they made the USA discs with one or both sides full of laserrot. Too late now. |

Indeed you are right 1988, the disc was released for the 50 years (1938 - 1988) existance of Pioneer. I got some LD-COM discs which also show a documentary on LD production in later years, the whole pressing plant was completely operated by robots to reach the highest possible air-cleanness and thus reach very low number of drop-outs. |
