Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this. I love this stuff. I have almost all of the Virtual Drug titles (except one DVD title) and some other stuff like Luminous Flight and Virtual Trip.

Also have some VHS stuff too like VR Cyberdelia (which is actually Virtual Drug Ecstasy just retitled and rebranded for the UK). I have a great German VHS too, the name escapes me at the minute. Also the Mind Control series is interesting too, oh and Infinite Escher of course.

I haven't seen the Video Drug series before. Argh! I need to find them now!

I would add Brian Eno's Thursday Afternoon to the set.

Can't wait to see those, this is great stuff. Thanks for sharing!

If it's of any interest to folks, I wrote a piece about this style of videos a couple of years ago. Have a look if you wish to.

There's a whole world of Amiga/PC Megademos using visual effects (and showing off coding skills!) with trippy videos out there :-)

Ex (one of my favorites on Amiga 1200) : GOA by The Black Lotus (ASM 1996 Demoparty)

More vintage goodness by TBL

STASH at The Party 1997 (the whole thing fits in 64KB of code!):

Jizz (1997):

If we're going down that road then you absolutely have to include the landmark Amiga demo Jesus On E's.

And of course State Of The Art!

Not in the same sort of area but Dutch Breeze warrants a mention too.

Then we recombine both with Stakker: Eurotechno [PILP-1009] :-)

I'll see your Stakker Eurotechno and raise you Golden Wonder Pot TV! (You'll see why ;) )

I need more context on this commercial. I even had to google whether it was for an actual product. Like, did this air? On what channel at what time and during what shows? How many letters from confused/concerned septuagenarians did they get?

Demoscene stuff is awesome. It's crazy what dedicated coders could get out of such limited, idiosyncratic hardware.

Yes the commercial aired in the UK in the early 1990's but was quickly banned after complaints came in about people suffering seizures.

Pot Noodle is a cup noodle product. Similar to ramen cups but more like something a cleaner would find in the bowls of dubious public lavatories.

The advert was slowed down, recut and reaired but didn't have the same impact. The wig advert followed a few years later. I've written a little about it on my blog.

This is the edited version:

I can melt your head even further if you like? Remember Trev and Simon?

For folks who won't have a clue what this is about, a Saturday morning children's show called Going Live! had two comedians on it doing sketches. For a while they had a series of sketches called the Pot Fish Hot Pot Rave Club which was loosely based on the Phil Hartman advert that came.out at the same time. Though really it was right at the first peak of the rave era circa 1992-1994 pre CJA law.

Pot Noodle's also had a cultural relationship with the rave scene (the munchies). The Pot Fish sketches went on for a while and mostly went over children's heads. Here's a video someone uploaded who clearly doesn't know what aspect ratio is.

Enjoy.

Dug out some VHS tapes this morning and found these in my collection.

The aforementioned VR Cyberdelia (aka Virtual Drug Ecstasy just rebranded for the UK market).

Also I have Future Shock, on the same Prism Leisure label. And finally 3LUX-2 which is the German techno VHS I was on about. That was put out by Studio !K7 in Germany but has no release year on it. I will investigate further.

EDIT: 3LUX-2 was released in 1992.

Part 4:

Sexy Nature

Sorry about the first five minutes, I had to remove the audio for copywrite purposes, else the video wouldn't have allowed.
