So, got Robocop Criterion a few months ago from an auction.
End of Side 3 didnt play preroply and somehow never bothered to check until now, just wrote it off as laserrot
Turns out, that isnt the case and the previous owner just left their DNA all over the disc (Read: what looks like the kind of smears you get on records when someone touched the grooves with their hands)
is there any way of getting that off while doing no damage without using LD specific products?
I do have my own record cleaning solution (1/5 Isopranyl, 4/5 Water) but doubt it would work on LD since the plastic around the metal disc is most likely different from PVC.
Though the solution leaves a bit of residue (only visible on label on records), which I got no way to get off on top of that too (tried microfiber on record that already is in pretty bad shape, left more scratches).

I've used this for the past 20 or more years, it's perhaps a bit pricey these days but it certainly does the job at least for me. It's available from Russ Andrews Accessories in the UK....btw welcome to the forum  and I really do think you should pick yourself a new name ;)

Is there a way to change Username without making a new account?
I already had to make a second e-mail for this account since my og one was on my old account and I forgot the password (theres still no password recovery)
NVM i found it

I cleaned it with Water with one drip of (mild detergent) using a microfiber cloth now, not magically fixed, but it plays longer with the occassional stutter at the end now instead of abruptly stopping

If you do a search here there are quite a few threads that should help.

Mild soapy water usually does the job even on very dirty LDs.

You can use novus 1.
Some plastic reacts to windex or window cleaner so be careful.

Read your inner sleeve, it sort of says how to clean your disc, use a non scratching lint free cloth, I would even at worst put some light water
and rub, but if its finger prints you don't need to worry just use the cloth.

Worse dirt will require more materials, i.e. cleaner along with cloth.

Windex is fine. So does a wet paper towel.

:geek: I just use a bit warm water with a bit of Gain Lutra on a good paper Towel.
And wipe the disc. Just go slow. And do bouth sides of the disc. This has worked for me
all kinds of times. You never know.
Be well & safe all

Novus #1 and old cotton t-shirt, but only if it really needs it. I leave stuff like light fingerprints. I clean covers much more often than discs.

I have used SimpleGreen. A very little of it. On a good paper towel. Go around the complete Disc.
It has worked for me all kinds of times. :geek:

I use rubbing alcohol. It helped remove the smudges off of that Winnie the Pooh Holiday laserdisc (ft. "Winnie the Pooh, and Christmas Too" and "Frankenpooh"), which is why the video on side 1 freeze-framed around like five minutes in before I cleaned it. After I cleaned it, it worked.
