If I own multiple copies of a title, it is to posses the latest version for best audio /visual experience on LaserDisc... No kidding. I'm still at 4 out of 5 different versions of Royal Space Force, just need the OG... I don't understand this thread. One does not upgrade FROM a Laserdisc, you can only upgrade TO it because it is the ultimate format. Yes, I did buy the Back to the Future 4K box set today, I don't know what that has to do with anything.

DVD was tiny LD with worse sound. It's too bad LD was subject to it's sunset coinciding with the very beginning of the rise of widescreen TV becoming a thing in the US. It would have been nice to get a lot more anamorphic 16:9 disc options to take full advantage of the resolution, which was such a major advantage for DVD.

He was so most excellent in Equilibrium and The Martian.... He was epic in Ronin as well..... That meme pic has legendary status with hundreds of phrases. Cheers mates

Manufacturers probably also wanted to move away from pressing LDs since they required dedicated hardware; meanwhile you could easily convert a plant pressing CDs to press DVDs as well, so there's a significant cost factor as well. Plus DVD has better color reproduction. Movies shot in low light and low contrast look pretty dreadful on laserdisc.
