Picture is of the CL-J55LD That's more of a bookshelf unit with detachable speakers rather than a "true" boombox.

like i said, the term portable is "subjective". Don't get hung up on the semantics of terminology. Or if it would "work in a 4x4 while driving". The units i am talking about, would have been for RVs or Yachts. Not designed to work while in motion. I've seen 12v TVs and 12v VCRs. Yes, some RVs and Yachts had/have inverters (120v in USA). Growing up, my best friend's parents had a small yacht. It _did not_ have an inverter, and everything was 12v. They had a small 12v TV and 12v VCR https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clarion-VDH910-Car-12-volt-VHS-HI-FI-VCR-NEW-IN-BOX-with-Manual-and-Accessories/293698955304I heard from someone else, that a 12v LD player was also made, i am interested in knowing the model number(s).

Picture is of the CL-J55LD Thanks. The person i heard from, may have been thinking of something like this, for sure. Unfortunately, looks like this unit is powered by line voltages.

The Pioneer V2800 is considered a "portable" model as it was intended for business people to tote around showing business themed LDs. Portable in the fact that it is just a little wider than a 12" LD. Doesn't have DC power though like OP is looking for though.
