I busted out my copy of Irving Berlins "Easter Parade" recently as i've been looking for a reason to watch it and easter had come around, and it's splitting down the middle into the two separate sides!

I'm sure someone has seen this before but it's the first time I have. Have seen plenty of rot before, but never A/B side seperation. Am i safe to try a little Super Glue or is this disc just toast?

Never seen this before either, I've had nightmares about it but never seen it. Is the disc the 1984 UK version? Could be the harbinger of the end of all LDs!? Within a 5 year margin of error every one of them self destructs after 37 years!

Well my 1979 copy of this hasn't separated so I'm fine so far with LD, its the players that I'm scared about.

No it's almost like a super thin layer of some synthetic fabric or matting, and it's on both sides on the inside, maybe what the data layer is glued to on the outside of each?

Oxidized aluminum maybe? That can be almost black.

Looks like the protective layer that sits between the adhesive and metal. https://youtu.be/hWC1Gyi26PA?t=230
