I remember seeing people queuing outside HMV and Virgin Megastore to buy Independence Day - it will likely go down in history as the film worth the least on resale value due to the high number of copies in circulation. Those types of movies are always best avoided.

My biggest mistake was "Air Force One" I had no idea it had serious issues with laser rot and to make maters worse the seller (whom I've never went near again) had been selling loads of this title. I only spend $5. It was just the fact that he was selling a well known badly pressed disc under the pretext that they were fine and had been selling loads of them. Eventually got a japanese copy.

My biggest mistake was the $1 I spent on Speed.

My first laserdisc purchase was a large stack from a record store that was closing. All titles were $1-$4 and they were all being sold for %50 off. As I was going through their selection I pulled up a copy of Speed and turned to my girlfriend and asked, "Should I grab this?" "It's only a dollar," I added. "No." She replied after a quick glance. "Aww, it's worth it for a buck." I said as I added it to my growing pile. Little did I know that years later (after purchasing numerous private collections) I would end up with over 5 copies that I can't even give away. To add insult to injury, I have never watched any of the copies that I have. Not even the one I paid for.

Space Marines "LV26276"
Did not pay much for it but was really excited for no reason other then it was an obscure sci-fi LD title.
Watched it and felt just depressed.
Bad acting, cheap out of period props, and the worst special effects money can not buy....
Almost as bad as Dungeon Master.... LoL

Biggest mistake was to buy the Import US LD of "The Game" and "Lost Highway" (about $60 each).

SONY DADC rot => they were dead within 2 years. I played Frisbee with the discs but kept the covers.
