Bonjour.

I asked Google Gemini to see what it spit out.

I'm looking for information on the France Musique LaserDiscs, made for lasergraph Wurlitzer. Can you provide any details or a list of 3 to 4 sites that have any info and possibly summarize them in a table?
I think this link may be accessible to all. If not, my bad.
Gemini Link, also quoted below
Quote:
The Wurlitzer Lasergraph, released around 1984, was a rare video jukebox that marked the final evolution of the "Scopitone" concept. It utilized Philips LaserVision (PAL) technology to play music videos on a built-in Sony Trinitron monitor.
The discs you are searching for were produced by a company called France-Disques (often referred to as "France-Disques Laser Vision"). These are specialized promotional LaserDiscs made for the jukebox market rather than retail. They typically contain collections of music videos from the 1980s and early 1990s, often arriving in generic white sleeves with simple, typed labels.
Summary of Key Information Sites
  • LDDB (LaserDisc Database): Comprehensive database listing "France-Disques Promo" entries and community forum discussions regarding the known series.
  • La Cinémathèque Française: Museum catalog featuring an archived Lasergraph Würlitzer Kombi and a specific collection of six France-Disques laser discs.
  • Google Arts & Culture: Historical documentation detailing the transition from 16mm film to the Lasergraph and the artists featured on the format.
  • Flippers.com: Technical resource providing original Deutsche Wurlitzer Service Bulletins, EPROM specifications, and hardware adjustment guides.

Technical Details & Disc Content
  • Disc Format: 12-inch (30cm) LaserVision (PAL), usually Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) for quick track access or Constant Linear Velocity (CLV) for longer play.
  • Machine Capacity: The Lasergraph typically held an automatic changer for 15 LaserDiscs, allowing for dozens of video selections.
  • Labeling: Unlike commercial movies, these discs were "Promo Music Videos." They are highly sought after by collectors because they often contain rare 80s music video edits that were never released on DVD or digital platforms.
  • Artist Examples: Common artists found on these compilations include James Brown, Elton John, ABBA, and various 80s French pop stars.

Collector's Tip
If you are looking for a complete list, the LDDB (LaserDisc Database) is your best starting point. Search for keywords like "France-Disques" or "Promo Music Videos" in their search bar. Many of these discs do not have standard artwork, so they are often identified by their catalog numbers (e.g., 0293-XXX).

I have never heard of what you seek. I hope this information is useful to everyone seeking what you seek.
