Picture quality is fine grade and nicely framed in the 2.35:1 scope Colours look fine. Minor EE on is visible on some scenes as well as some fringing.

Dolby Stereo mix is action packed even when its out of control dialouge remains clear. Strong beat on the opening between 47Hz to 67Hz. Helicopter pans across the surrounds to centre

glad you liked it, shipping cost me more than the disc  .
i picked it up locally for 2 bucks.

it's not an expensive disc but it's a really fun film.
i didn't even notice the EE, and didn't think they started with it that early on from LD production.
but last time i watched it was on a 13 inch TV while i was working

I'm pretty sure they are referring to "Edge Enhancement" which is a sharping filter which if used carelessly in the mastering process shows white lines around people and objects which is most noticeable in high contrast areas.

EE also destroys real picture resolution because the white lines cover up smaller details that the LaserDisc format (or DVD or BD) can reproduce. It gives the "appearance" of sharpness on smaller 19 inch sets while actually destroying sharpness - and film isn't a sharp medium so it makes the image look like video and not film.

Look at the widescreen LaserDisc of The Hindenburg to see so much EE applied that everything and everyone looks etched like they've had a Photoshop Emboss filter applied. The Japanese LaserDisc had much less EE so I finally bought that one and eagerly await the BD of The Hindenburg, hopefully with its amazing original discrete 4-track mix.

EE has been used since the 60's. with actual film its called unsharp masking.

Yes that's interesting that it dates back as far as the 60's.
