Masayoshi Takanaka: Guitar Fantasia (1982) [5133-17]Ok so i've had a quick look through the third and final release of Guitar Fantasia.
I know it's probably marginally harder to find than the already hard to find digital version, but...
I think this is the best version of the three.
The picture quality is out of this world. No seriously, it's not even a contest. The other two releases are superb already but the picture on this, holy moly. If you told me it was a MUSE disc i'd believe you. Okay that's maybe stretching the truth a little bit but heed this much, its absolutely sensational.
It has to be from a different source of the broadcast recording or processed differently. I don't know. I am no expert in this stuff. Just suffice to say the picture quality is genuinely, in my opinion, a true showcase for early Laserdisc.
Audio is right up there. It's analogue only but sounds just as good if not slightly better than the original Kitty release. Maybe this was a remaster or adjusted repressing?
I'll cut this review short because the other two reviews cover the concert in enough detail (i hope). I will say this though, i think it's the best release of the three. Though if you got any of them you would be happy.
Or you can have all three releases and be truly happy!
