Macross: (Do You Remember Love?): English Edition (1984) (Uncut) [TLL 2084]

WOW this is a super hard one to find in any condition.
bought one once on the bay, came with just the sleeve and a robotech disc then I had to track another one down.
this is one of those NOT ON DVD films, OK the film is on DVD but not this International uncut English version.

originally released as an official Big West/Toho collaboration with Hong Kong voice over actors dubbing this into English for
the international market.

there are many websites that have info regarding the history of this and I won't go into details that one can search.

the film is Widescreen 1.85, Japanese subtitles are on the image.
pictures were taken on my LCD television while playing on the LD-S1, no pause to take pictures, i'm still working on
getting better pictures but these will give you an idea.


little bit of screen door image, can't figure out how I got this?? I don't see anything when watching it.




on the title there is NO white smear, you see some on this picture but in when watching in person there is NONE.


again the screen door image, is this just due to the LCD when you take pictures????















there is a little ghosting at the end credits, battery died before I was able to take them.
I believe this is due to the pressing, but its only on the end credits which are a medium blue color.

again this is a very rare disc and I was very lucky to find a copy that plays perfectly

well its really this one that's rare, if you can pickup the CAV box set that's what I would do.

no extras on that, just the movie on 3 discs but well worth it, and the image is amazing on that set.

as for my pictures I think it has to do with the analog image, when I take pics of broadcast TV there is no screen door.
so i'll try again on the projector today or tomorrow when it gets dark

My first exposure to this movie was a pirate VHS a friend purchased from his Army PX. We were FLOORED by this movie! The new designs were about the most exciting thing on Earth for us.

There was also a cut up VHS from FHE, but this one was longer.

Personally, I never thought of this disc as being all that rare. It was available from popular importers halfway through the 90s and relatively common on eBay for years. I guess all the gaijin drove the price up?

Anyway, yeah, if you don't need the translation (what Macross fan doesn't have this movie memorized?) then the CAV Perfect Edition is hugely preferable. The Bluray is also pretty great, as is the CLV version of the Perfect Edition. You can't really go wrong with DYRL and a every LD version but this one is super cheap.

My favorite part of the dub is when the one Zentran was crashed upside down after entering the Macross.

"A man and a woman?"

"What?"

"A man and a woman!"

Hilarious.

taken from the projector with the LDS1, great image from composite straight into the projector.

a little dark in some places but i'm working with a different camera and trying to take pictures while the film is playing not on still images,
so this way you get a better idea of how the image looks.

i just wanted to comment on this.
I've been actively searching out anime on LD from 1989-93 then started again around 2000 until today.
I've only ever seen 3-4 copies in that time, and i was contacting importers back in the day about it.
guess i must have been asking the wrong questions or it may have been that rare.

lots of sellers back in the day would have offered older discs but not be able to get them once an order was placed.
i remember that a lot of times back then, so it could have been that
no matter, i sold one copy here on lddb back in 2012 for 250 so it is that rare.

It's true, you'd know more than I. I just remember seeing it on eBay in the 90s several times. Since I didn't have much interest in it I never bought it.

not always i'm sometimes wrong and you know more than I do in some things.
just what I remember, I really wish it were easier to find but then sort of glad its not.
