Post subject:  1989 Proton Demo Disc

I recently bought an 8-inch Proton demo LaserDisc for in-store use. It sells their televisions, amps, Schotz tuners and Aphex-based SD-100 Advanced Steering Logic Surround Decoder- a decoder that created a center back channel before Surround EX ever existed. The program runs about 10 minutes, single side only. It was pressed by Pioneer industrial and has better picture quality that almost all 8-inch titles. The very interesting thing about it is that it's encoded in Ultra*Stereo and has the logo on the jacket, disc label and at the end of the program. I assume they used Ultra*Stereo because their surround decoder wasn't Dolby licensed. It even lists Ultra*Stereo's developer as the surround consultant. It's odd for a 1989 disc because it's analog only, no digital sound. But it's very cool, with clips from many (full frame) films including Pippi Longstocking! Lita Ford is also prominently featured.

It's the only disc I've ever seen that has the Ultra*Stereo logo that isn't a film like Hairspray where the logo is just copies from the original credits.

I can't find it on the LDDB, so I'll have to add it. At least it's small enough to fit on my scanner.
