Triple Impact (1992) [ID2787AI]

very low budget martial arts film released by AIP.

story is of some military men that find by accident a giant gold budda head that has been lost for years.

25 years later one is blind and a junkie with a crime boss and the other just got out of prison and can see.

then the story changed to these two fighters who battle for money in the ring, one throws the fights
and they split the winnings, but the one fighter bets on the ponies so they end up with nothing.

after leaving the bar the ex-con runs into them and they are told about the golden Buddha head.

they decide to go and find the head, ex-con gets killed, they go to i believe Thailand to a strip club
to find a man, but they find out he died in a car accident, so one guy gets an idea to find this girl
who is fighting in a Thai arena and all three go in search of the Buddha head.

after the helicopter gets shot down they now have to deal with drug gangs in the jungle and then find the head,
but then the crime boss finds them and it's crazy from there, the golden head gets buried.

so fighting is alright, some scenes are terrible and some have great action.
feels like an 80s film but it's from the 90s, either it was released later or it's just that bad, but in a good way :D

beginning AIP is in about 1.70, film is 1.33 but seems to be an open matte OR just a made for video release.
ending credits are 2.35 and i really don't know why.

there are no places that could be pan and scan that i saw.
it also seems that the image was from a master tape and not film, or that's how it was shot.

around the 25min mark on side 2 there seems to be a mastering glitch for about 1-2 seconds.

overall if you like these 80s / 90s martial arts films this is a fun one, not Jackie Chan or even bloodsport quality
but an enjoyable film

It might be one of Image's made for TV films that they had rated and passed off as a theatrical film. Lots of their titles like that used U-Matic or U-Matic SP videotape as the master! Many made for Turner Network films were also released by Image and 'disguised' as real films with ratings.
