Boy and His Dog, A: Special Edition (1975) [LVD9529]

WOW, what a cult classic film this is.
don johnson in a very early roll, possibly his first, i'm too lazy right now to check.
took some shots with the projector, LD is on pause and gives a little more video nose than when playing on my 76 inch screen
and some chroma noise in a few pictures that are not seen during playback with my CLD-R7G a great underated player

the film has oval reel change markers, so it was transfered from an anamorphic print.
some scratches and really damaged scenes but only for a few seconds, not very long.

mono soundtrack sounds nice and clear with very little noise or issues.
overall a nice short film that is even better with blood the dog

One of Harlan Ellison's great works.
Loved "Blood"...
What a fantastic canine companion !
A friend that can actually tell you when your messing up before you actually step in sh** !!!!

If only I had a dog that could find me some BLEEP !!!

Since it has been quite a few years, it is finally time to spin that LD again !
Going to read the liner notes on the jacket again as well.
A very nice layout for that special edition !!!

Thanks rein-o

rein-o nice captures with camera and we already have talked about it. :) Cool reel change over dots. Very rare.

Umm, some more pictures of the reel change over dots please. Should be every so 20 mins.

I like it and would like to get on Laserdisc.

Didn't know you had a projector rein-o, this is the way movies should be watched, much better then LCD/LED and plasma even.

Anyway looks like a great looking disc, good stuff.

yes, a DLP projector  . i'm always too lazy to get pictures of films.
and just got a better ceiling mount so i wanted to test it out again.
also i was thinking about it, this LD is almost 20 years old and NO rot or any issues
there will be reviews of more LD stuff now that i have everything setup in my living room :ugeek:

Love that film- have the 1st pressing from 1986 so 28 years old and no rot on it either amazingly:
Boy and his Dog, A (1975) [I5071]

I actually like the cover on the 1st edition slightly more although it is only a pan & scan picture.

The first time I saw this movie was in 1989 back to back with THX-1138 as part of a cult sci-fi double bill on TV.
I'd never seen either movie up to that point and it was certainly a memorable viewing for both. Some films stick
in your mind for a long time - 'A Boy and His Dog' was certainly one of those movies.

i used to own that first issue P/S i want to say it was one of the first 10-20 LDs we bought.
that cover is great compare to the widescreen atomic blast, wish they could have come up with a better cover :(
my only guess would be that they had to pay rights to the artist of the original cover or poster.

and yes firehorse agree with you.
i've even read the short story, almost like the film other than the change of the robot.
there was a 2 or 3 part comic done years ago, probably around 20 or so years ago.
richard corbin did the art, the only thing i didn't like was the added ending in the comic that wasn't in the book or film.

and it took years to forget how it almost ruined the entire film and book for me.
so if you get a chance STAY AWAY from that comic if you like the film and or book.

Wow...... fantastic pics to add again !
Like the reel change marker prompts !
Really noteworthy that such a great cast of actors threw in their hats to make this low budget film come to life.
Re-read one of the later versions of the short story .......

All considered, a sobering and disturbing film that is not too far fetched considering the road our species is following .......

Best not to exchange gifts in the form of nuclear weapon detonations...........
"Another helpful hint from the committee".

 Love this film; and as for Glen and Randa (1986) [ID6592VC] likewise.
